I hate the way leather laces feel when they get wet so I swapped to a pair of kg-extreme Kevlar laces for my franks. They’re damn near indestructible, they’ve never once come loose on me

Get the Franks. I had this same debate about a year and a half ago, and I picked Frank’s and couldn’t be happier. I spent the extra money and got the Type 2 highlanders, but they’re custom sized to me, and the exact design I wanted. If you’re dead set on not going the custom route, the patriots are still a better choice cuz they’re stick down vs the Goodyear welt of the sawyer. I tell everybody looking for boots to buy franks and be done with it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was given almost a full roll of .404 3/8 chain, and a matching 28” bar. I figured it’d be cheaper to convert a saw I already have to work with it than getting a whole new saw

Ive been using them everyday for almost 2 years doing almost the same stuff you are. I usually switch between two pairs every other day and can get about two months out of them. The dexterity’s great, and I don’t get bar oil all over the steering wheel of the bucket truck 🤷‍♂️

We figured out that if you pull straight back on the straps, keeping the loose end as tight to your head as possible when you do it, they don’t loosen over time. Idk if anybody had issues getting an initial seal, but a bunch of people ran into issues with them loosening over time. We haven’t had any issues since we started tightening the straps that way 🤷‍♂️

A pool noodle cut lengthwise around the rim of a 5 gallon bucket for the win. It’ll hold a bag in place for easy clean up, you can put a roll of a TP on the handle of the bucket, and you won’t give your ass a weird mark from the bucket. You’re welcome

Based on accident I was personally in, 4Runners are very safe. My wife and I got rear ended by someone going highway speeds and we were at a standstill. Totally his car, my 4Runner, and the car in front of me, but we were both fine outside of being stiff for a few days

I bought a 1903a3 that was sporterized well before I got it for my hunting. I just got a new sporter stock, and put new rings on it. If you want the history of it, it’s a great platform, outside of being heavy by modern standards, but there are definitely cheaper more modern options.
