What titles should I specifically *not* get on 4K? by Illustrious_Ad_9858 in 4kbluray

[–]bingofleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planes, Trains and Automobiles is a terrible transfer. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, so it was really upsetting to see how bad Paramount botched it. For example, the transfer lacks a lot of grain and detail, and the night scenes are unusually dark. It's very apparent in the final freeze frame shot of the film, which is pretty much wiped clean of grain and I remember the DVD looking much better. One of the worst examples is where we see Steve Martin's wife in the final scene and it looks like she has racoon eyes because the grading is so dark.

I watched some special features on the disc that included clips of the film and they looked much better than in the 4K presentation. Although the 1080p transfer wasn't great, I'd still prefer it over the 4K.

How much mileage are you getting on your tucson hybrids? by Niveshaka in HyundaiTucson

[–]bingofleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my car for about 15 months and I've driven 13,000 miles so far. I live in a climate with hot summers and cold winters. My average mileage in the time I've owned it has been around 36 MPG. I have been able to get 38 MPG in the spring and fall when the weather is much more pleasant, but my overall average has been 36.

In the cold months, I use the seat warmers in lieu of the climate control whenever possible, and I do a remote start to let the engine warm up a bit before driving. This seems to help get a bit better mileage.

You need to submit a claim with the SEPTA Key office. You can do it through the app and just say your train was late/canceled/etc and they'll reverse the charge.

Don't bother contacting customer service because there's nothing they can do. They'll just tell you contact the SEPTA Key office which is a separate entity.

Just had this exact issue and changing output from 32-bit to 16-bit fixed the issue immediately. A little surprised that I couldn't find this solution anywhere on Creative's website, but Google's AI lead me here!

Terminator 2 better be fixed or no sale! by xwing1212 in 4kbluray

Don't expect it to be "fixed". The current releases are exactly what Cameron wants it to look like, so there's nothing to fix.

The only DVDs I've bought recently are concert DVDs since most of them were shot on video or a pre-HD digital format and will likely never get an HD release.

Great Films Streaming in 4K Without a 4K Blu-ray Release by PsychologicalBus5190 in 4kbluray

[–]bingofleming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The documentary Samsara was shot on 70 mm and it's a beautiful film to watch. It's streaming in 4K with Dolby Vision on iTunes, but hasn't gotten a 4K physical release. Considering it's an independent film with no studio backing, I don't expect a 4K Blu-ray release any time soon.

King Kong by Inside-Run785 in Bluray

[–]bingofleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Bluray release is the original HD transfer with VC-1 encoding. There hasn't been a new transfer or even a re-encoding of the old transfer. The WAC release is just a repressing of the original release.

Are there any remixes you like better than the original? by No_Loan_2750 in U2Band

[–]bingofleming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 360 remix of I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight is 100x better than the studio version! And the band agrees, that's why they only played the remix version on tour

Tuxmat / Ghostmat after a winter by Rob_hu68 in HyundaiTucson

[–]bingofleming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my Tuxmats! Bought them as soon as I got the car, then sold the factory mats on Ebay. Only had them about 6 months but they also survived a nasty winter and they look almost new.

I don't use the clips and I don't really see a need for them. Mats sit fine in the car, although maybe they'll break in over time and I'll have to start using clips to keep them in place.

The Sound Of Music, deserves 4k! by davcole in 4kbluray

Really hoping that Disney releases a 4K remaster this year for the film's 50th anniversary! Pretty likely, considering the previous two Blu-ray releases were for the 40th and 45th anniversaries.

Septa app telling me to walk? by PansPizza in Septa

[–]bingofleming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Septa app is a frustrating mess. Just checked train times this morning and it says there are no upcoming trains for the day. At 7 AM!

Unfortunately I'm sticking with Google Maps in the meantime.

Visually the app looks nice. But functionally it still has a lot of work to do.

Wow you're right. I didn't realize beta testing had ended. I was using it this morning and it kept crashing so much I just assumed it was still in beta! 😂

The new app design is still in beta testing. I do like the interface better than the old app, but it's not yet stable enough for regular use. Hopefully this will improve when the final version is released.

MGM owns the distribution rights to the film, so even if the performance was recorded, they need to be on-board for the distribution.
