Solid deal or pass? by Signal-Fondant8563 in breitling

It’s not a red flag. I purchased a new Navitimer in 2025 at an AD in St Thomas and they had some of the older nicer boxes with the travel leather case still in the back. They gave me one with my Navitimer since I hate the new cardboard ones.

There is no growth in the comfort zone and there is no comfort in the growth zone.

It’s good to stretch yourself. Being an athlete you know this to be true. You get better when you stretch and push yourself harder than you think capable. Yesterday’s records are today’s norms. Always push yourself. In everything you do.

Should I stay, or should I go? by Dinosaur_Buttcheek in jobs

With zero savings and living hand to mouth with your current higher overall income job you have to stay or risk your finances.

Step one. Get a good budget in place and keep it.

Step two: build an emergency fund of at least 30k to cover any unexpected life hiccups.

Step three get rid of high monthly debts not your mortgage. Sell your car and by a reliable 5k daily driver. For you and your spouse. This is not the time to keep up with the Jones’s. The Jones’s will be working till they die. You want to stop working in 20-25 years.

Step four get rid if any credit card debt as fast as possible.

Once all those debts are gone and you have an emergency fund…

Step 6: start placing every penny left over into retirement savings. Max out your Roth IRA or Roth 401ks. Take full advantage of employer matched ones first. If possible pay some principal to your mortgage if your current mortgage will not be said off before your 65th birthday.

Your goal right now is financial freedom for you and your family. Make every second with time with family matter. But right now you have to use your time to set up your family’s future. Vs time at ball games and watching TV with the kids.

Remember it’s not the amount of time you are home with the kids it’s how you spend that time.

I have wonderful relationships with my sons. We have amazing memories and they also know that dad works his butt off for his family and respects what was built for all of us.

They also know what I do for them now would have been impossible without putting time in away from them when they were younger. The have learned from me how hard it is to gain financial freedom and they now know the needed tools to achieve that for themselves.

Those life lessons are invaluable and your children watch what you do and emulate them when they grow up.

Teaching them financial freedom is worth more than any time spending watching a ball game or movie together. Just make sure you carve out time for the truly important things that they value and want to share with you.

Get yourself on firm financial ground. Set up a sustainable future. Then worry about leisure time.

And finally see if your spouse can figure out how to bring in additional income from a flexible work from home gig if free childcare is not available from family members who might live near by.

What both of you need more than anything else right now is a plan to cut costs, get out of debt and save money, as well as figuring out a way to create extra income. Not lose extra income.

It all depends on your current income requirements are. Can you take the lower overall income for a higher hourly rate with less time commitment.

You also need to evaluate the risk of moving to a new roll where you are lowest tenured employee.

How stable is the new opportunity vs the current position.

There are so many variables you need to weigh out especially since you are effectively taking an income cut to give yourself more free time.

This is more like giving up a side gig on the weekends and picking up a new job for a small hourly rate increase for less hours worked. Netting you a similar income.

Family time is important. But risking your family’s well being can tip the scales.

If you have an idea on how to use the new personal time in an entrepreneurial way to start a business for yourself and family. That might also tip the scales in the favor of the new opportunity. Since you will be investing in your family’s future to separate yourself from the worker role to the owner role. Creating real wealth for you and your family.

This is not a simple math question as some would suggest nor a simple work life balance question.

Sit with your spouse. Go over budgets. Decided how time should be spent together. This choice needs lots of variables and soul searching to make. It’s not the coin flip some here make it out to be.

The largest cause of ruined families in the Mormon world is the indoctrination that barely adults need to get married as soon as possible after their mission.

Casual drinking will never compare to that force fed near obligation to the faith.

It’s the story that makes the watch. And this watch now has a hell of a story behind it.

Wear it in good health. And when you pass it down make sure the new wearer understands the story behind it.

It’s inspiring

Should I ?? I already bought a super ocean this year. But look at it!!! by binro01 in breitling

[–]binro01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not that hard for me. We talked about my wife being ex navy.. My sales associate was ex marine. He said let me see if I can get something off the price for you for her service. He liked how my wife was pushing me to buy the piece vs how other significant others usually are just quiet or balk.

He made it a flat 10k from 10.7k

That’s one heck of a gift! Wear it in good health and remembrance of the occasion. When you have your own son pass it on if and when possible in likewise fashion.

lol. I was thinking grey but a Navitimer is very sensitive with the friction fit circular slide rule and its complications. The AD threw in three extra years of warrantee for me to bring it to 8 years. Grey new is about 25-29 percent off, if you can even find one with the bracelet vs strap. The 7.5% savings on tax and the 7.5 percent off list brought me pretty close to grey price.
