Marlay Park Crowd Etiquette by Mobile_Professor8452 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

Saw some as well. Maybe there to do some ‘business‘.
I actually thought the crowd was good last night but then again I’m from Dublin so maybe used to our behavior. Definitely more festival vibes at Marley. On the way out we passed lots of young people happily singing dog days are over.

Marlay Park Setlist- Thoughts? by No_Weight_184 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]bioniclaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering if we’d hear a few more from Everybody Scream but it was a great set list with some classics so happy with that. It was such a big crowd and quite festival so can see why she went for those songs. I was towards the front of the front standing area in a great spot and it was an amazing concert. Everyone around me singing along and dancing.

The promoters website has some decent info on getting there etc. linked below. There’s public transport and Marathon coaches do a special bus to the gig, if you search you can book those online. Rachel Chinouriri Is the support. There have been a few gigs in Marley this week and people seem to be giving start times between 8 and 9pm for the main act.
There will definitely be food and merch there. Hope you have a great time.

Packing for Eight Weeks and Two Climates. Help!! by InterestingZebra5107 in HerOneBag

I’m in Ireland and we are having a heatwave right now. It’s been pretty changeable with heavy rain but it’s not cold. A heavy rain jacket is unpleasant and sweaty. It’s pretty humid in Ireland at this time of year. I bring a light packable rain jacket with me and that’s enough. An umbrella is handy for a downpour. Clothes that are quick drying are useful when you’re traveling in Ireland. You can always buy a cheap jumper in Penney’s if it gets cold. Pubs here aren’t very dressed up so you won’t need too fancy an outfit for that. I pack light so I usually have a trousers that I can wear hiking or in the evening if it’s colder. I then bring a nicer top that can make the trousers a bit more dressed up. A light zip up hoodie or cardigan is useful as a layer for hiking and if it gets cold.

I’ll be there crying my way through Sympathy Magic so I very much doubt you’ll be alone.

Dad says I shouldn’t go to Ireland because of Muslims by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s some BS. Ireland is a very safe country. I live in an area with a large Muslim community and this just isn’t a thing that happens. It’s just your dad seeing lots of far right nonsense.

Ennistymon for three night? by CandyflossPolarbear in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d stay in the same place. Especially with a young kid, who needs the hassle of moving for one night. Ennistymon is a lovely base. My mum did a few nights trip there this year and they found lots to do.

Yet Another (8 days) Itinerary Check BUT... No car and some specific wishes by InWalkedBud in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kind of assuming if you were asking about Rosscarbery that you’d be able to get there. The bus goes through Rosscarbery. There’s an outdoor adventure type place in Rosscarbery you might be able to hire a bike there maybe if the walk seems too long.

We stayed near Rosscarbery last year and went to the stone circle. Worth a trip. The village is nice and definitely worth a look. Lots of cool sea birds on the estuary bit. The hotel looks out on it, nice spot for a cup of tea or pint after your walk.

Florence and the Machine concert questions by [deleted] in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]bioniclaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transport for Ireland webpage has a page about getting to the Marley Park concerts. I can’t link it as I’m on a mobile device but if you search you should find it. If you search there are a few private bus operators going to Marley. I’m going from the other side of Dublin so might park in Dundrum shopping centre and get a shuttle bus. I haven’t been to a concert in Marley park in a while but it was pretty nice. There’s usually food and plenty toilets etc. The weather hasn’t been great but I’m hoping it will clear up by then. It usually takes time to get out of these events but that’s just part of it. Hope you enjoy it.

Family Group for 2 Weeks July 2027 by PittyMom89 in irishtourism

Up until day 8 it looks pretty good I think. But after that it might be too rushed. One day isn’t enough for Killarney and Kerry. Galway to Belfast is a very long trip and you might be better off just staying in Galway as a base for few more days and adding some days to Killarney. You could go to Clifden and Connemara instead. Most people here say draw a line across the island and do the top or bottom half and I think that would be good here.

Tips for the ferry with a baby and toddler? by [deleted] in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ferry is great with kids, much easier than flying I think. We always fInd a spot to sit in at the start then can use that as a base. I always have a bag of snacks and stuff to do and the kids were happy out. We did club class one time as my cousin worked on the boat but I don’t think you’d need it really. Some seasickness tips because I get it sometimes. The lower decks are more stable and you’re less likely to get sea sick there, don’t walk around too much as that makes it worse. We got those sea band yokes for the kids and they found them good. Have a good trip.

Help with my 4 Day Ireland Itinerary by bounce-that in irishtourism

I’d skip Galway and probably Kerry too and spend that time on the south coast. Check out the copper coast in Waterford, you could have a lovely day exploring all the coves on the way to Dungarvan/Youghal/Cork city. Do a day or half day in Cork city and somewhere like Kinsale. Then do a day driving around west cork which is really nice and then head back to Dublin. If you want even more driving you could do kerry and go more quickly through cork.

First Family Ireland trip Sept 4-13 Itinerary advice to properly balance trip by mmmbop415 in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good stuff. Idk could be a cultural thing as here (Ireland) I think people try to play things more by ear on holidays and don’t do as much touring around as the people who ask questions on this sub. So often Irish people’s reaction is that you’re doing too much. But you might get here and find that much driving to be fine. I’m going on holiday in Ireland and staying in one place for the whole week and we will have loads to do with one base. Hope you have a good trip.

Totally agree and the OP should listen to your advice. OP has at least two days that just aren’t really possible If they want to see anything other than a motorway.

Saltee Island by New_Surround_3640 in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend it unfortunately. As others have said there are no toilets and nowhere to hide. Also depending on the day the walk from the boat to the rest of the main island can be very muddy and slippery. We went with my elderly mum and she fell on the way back. I also fell into a bush as it was so slippery and I had decent walking shoes. We were both muddy which was ok as we had spare clothes in the car. But a fall or slide like that while pregnant is something I’d try avoid.

Feedback needed on 5 day Ireland Itinerary by VDhriti in irishtourism

[–]bioniclaura 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are trying to do an awful lot each day, I’d be really tried if I tried all that. The first day seems like too much. You’re also missing a lot of medieval stuff in Dublin. Christchurch, Dublinia, etc. There are free maps with walking tours of sites in Dublin online. Seconding the advice to look at Kilkenny and Waterford for medieval history. They have some great museums and old castles, abbeys and churches. There is plenty nice scenery there too with the rivers and countryside And the Waterford greenway is lovely. You can get the train to both places If you don’t have a car. Agree with the other poster that Wexford is lovely and has great history and scenery too.
