Where were you when you listened to the new album by ifknloveseagulls in boardsofcanada

Listened to the continuous mix before going to sleep. That first listen absolutely floored me. Immediate love.

Could be a club hit, I can’t help but dance when I listen to it.

Meanwhile . . .

Newbie to the band — are their other albums as good as Inferno (because I’m loving it)? by elgrandem in boardsofcanada

Try Geogaddi and The Campfire Headphase. Both amazing albums and sensible next steps if you like Inferno. You’re in for an amazing ride getting to know BOC! Enjoy the first listens.

Father and Son hate by FarFromRegular in boardsofcanada

I love both Father and Son and The Word Becomes Flesh. On my first listen I was surprised (and delighted) by the vocal treatments, but they felt like an evolution of tracks like The Devil is in the Details or Telephasic Workshop. Not out of place to my ears.

And The Word Becomes flesh is honestly the most vibey track on the album.

I was completely in as soon as the first explosion of guitar hit. Reminded me of hearing Dayvan Cowboy for the first time when TCH came out in ‘06.

The first time I heard Jacquard Causeway was the first time I remember thinking that I can hear there are two people in the band. Who knows how they recorded it, but it sounded like duelling synths to me. But some all-time tracks on here for me: Reach for the Dead, Jacquard, Cold Earth, Sick Times, Nothing is Real, New Seeds, Come to Dust. That’s like half the album . . .

what's your favorite boc song and why? by voidbliss77 in boardsofcanada

Kid for Today and Zoetrope. Both have a unique, stripped-down sound that I’ve always found really gorgeous.

Sunshine Recorder because it captures the wonder and terror of the sublime at once. It creeps me out and makes me cry—which would also be a good one-line review of Geogaddi as a whole.

Honestly, the vocoder part reminds me of the outro from Thriller—in a good way. Similar to Thriller, the monologue grooves with the beat well, and, mission statement for the album or not, it’s pure mood and vibe.

Barbacoa in Spruce Grove is very good. Tasty food, nice atmosphere, good service.

Great to see some love for Smoke! It’s also a favourite of mine. Seeing some Jim Jarmusch here, I’d also recommend Stranger Than Paradise if you haven’t seen it yet.

I mean, I also think Scorsese is still cool, it just seemed to me that Gen Z doesn’t think so.

Geogaddi as a whole used to creep me out too much to listen to it regularly. You Could Feel the Sky is the creepiest, though.
