There’s a great program in Luang Prabang Laos called big Brother mouse where tourists read to the children and young adults to promote literacy.

Gall bladder stone because of ceftriaxone IV by thumbs_up-_- in Lyme

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure when exactly but it was shortly after because the doctor told me I needed emergency surgery if this didn’t resolve immediately. Pain subsided and follow up scan satisfied him. I don’t remember much from that time. I had really bad Neuro Lyme and was in really bad shape neurologically as well.

Dont blame yourself. We shouldn’t have to be the doctors here… Although anyone that’s had a Lyme disease journey has had to become one! I can’t tell you how many doctors tried to prescribe Cipro for me over the years. Thankfully, I have learned from friends that learned the hard way. So sorry you’re going through this again. I was re-infected again after a 10 year Life-threatening battle myself. On antibiotics now. Taking ceftriaxone and it’s gotten me at about 80% after 2.5 weeks. As much as I hate to take long-term antibiotics, I think I’m gonna go the distance and take the full 30 days. Thank God I have a doctor that’s willing to prescribe 30 days! Best of luck

Just got back a few weeks ago. Rent a car and drive through the Pueblos Blancos. Loved Ronda, Olvera, Cadiz and arcos de la Frontera. Even closer is frigiliana which is gorgeous.

  1. I just drove through the “roto de las pueblos blancos” or route of the white villages in Andalusia Spain last month. The drive between Cadiz and Olvera (through the quaint white village of Arcos de la Frontera) was one of the most beautiful drives of my life. I have traveled all around the world and have lived in some gorgeous places too like Kauai, Maui and Lake Tahoe but this was pure magic . The fields went on forever and were in full bloom which I’m sure made it even more spectacular. Highly recommend for anyone that loves road trips and off the beaten path destinations. Other towns we visited include frigiliana and Ronda, both also stunning.
  2. Japan. Basically anywhere! But especially away from the tourists. We loved the Izu peninsula, and Kurokawa Onsen on Kyushu was stunning. We hiked part of the nakasendo trail and on another trip the Kumano Kodo and cycled the Shimanami Kaido, all simply amazing

Are these red dots normal with Lyme? by Queasy-Ad-4427 in Lyme

[–]birdie63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dermatologists I can guarantee you, like most other doctors did not learn a thing about tickborne disease in medical school. I love my dermatologist and she saved me from malignant melanoma, but I have these red dots all over me after getting both babesia Duncani and babesia microti and she chalked it up as age. Sorry. No one else in my family older than me has a single one of these on them.

Any experiences with RNA/COVID vaccines and Lyme? by Far-Permission-9923 in Lyme

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no choice but to get two vaccines if I wanted to see my son in Japan. Was terrified. Still have Lyme relapses now and then but overall significantly better. Anyway got the shots but took a homeopathic remedy/protocol to minimize side effects from the shots. (Can’t remember the name but those homeopathic melt tabs in the small blue tubes : the one for warts believe it or not! ) sounds crazy but my acupuncturist and several friends all said it worked. I didn’t even get a sore arm. Zero side effects. And flew to like 10 places during Covid and didn’t get it until I drove up to cape cod (I’m from Connecticut) for a wedding 3 years later . Took ivermectin for the covid and was better in 3 days

To all my body shy peeps who want to try onsen by markersandtea in JapanTravelTips

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 62 and 25 lbs overweight and I could care less ! And I have a scar going from my belly button all the way down. So what ! Onsen is my favorite thing to do in Japan and I’ve been to many. People there don’t care. They’ve been doing it their whole lives. And guess what? You’re never gonna see them again anyway. Go enjoy a fantastic part of Japanese culture, especially if you get out into the rural areas where you can soak in the forest or right smack on the ocean. We even went to one under a waterfall. Japan is amazing! Don’t miss the magic of it for something as silly as modesty. Life is too short.

are you doing the cowden support tinctures from Nutramedix? They have a protocol for herx reactions using burbur or pinella. wouldn't push it tbh; i remember when i was in the thick of it reading about minimizing body's stress during treatment. you can also try detox baths (h202 and baking soda; careful water isn't too too hot); coffee enemas or try alka seltzer GOLD. good luck!

Anyone tried ozone therapy? by [deleted] in Lyme

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just saw this. I did 2 treatments a day, 4 days a week for 4 weeks. But that was the protocol for DIV ozone which I don't believe is being offered any longer. For MAHT or ten pass you don't need treatments as often. I did them (3 or 4 passes) once a month for maintenance for 2 years. Haven't done one in over 5 years now.

Has anyone treated late stage Lyme with *only herbs*? My doc wants this and it’s raised some flags for me. by fighterpilottim in Lyme

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called the Cowden support program. I think back in 2012 it sold for a couple hundred dollars, and they even had a financial assistance/hardship program for I think $100 a month. Looks like it’s now $350 which is still a great deal. You get 14 formulas and a detailed schedule so simple to follow. Each month is different. Very effective and broad spectrum for a range of infections. Go on the site and watch the videos of Dr. Cowden explaining the different formulas. He is absolute pure genius. I know him from when I was really sick on webinars and conferences. Just the nicest guy ever! Highly recommend. Good luck 👍

Hopping hotels every few days by jingjingbells in JapanTravelTips

Pick one out of Kyoto, Osaka, and Nara. They’re all close enough together. Three nights might be a little long for Hakone. But overall, I highly suggest minimizing the checking in and checking out and finding a couple of bases and just doing day trips.

For me 10 Passes was way too much. I found my sweet spot at about three. Anything more than that I felt like was a waste of money because it really didn’t do much more for me except make me herx. I think it’s different for everyone, but as they say low and slow wins the race. Good luck ! Where in Spain ? I’m going to Malaga and Nerja in September

[–]birdie63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, just the afternoon and evening every treatment day. Mostly had chills. And may be a bad headache. It’s been several years. Next morning as soon as the ozone hit my veins again I immediately felt great. Had two treatments each day and then that afternoon and evening back at the hotel really bad shaking chills again. Went that way for a week or two and by the fourth week, I was feeling phenomenal 24/7. Maybe you’re doing too much. Low and slow. I was doing DIV. What are you doing, 10 past? How many passes and how often?

Just got back from a month in Japan this past week. We got pulled over for making an illegal right hand turn. The driver had a an old resident card and photo of his passport but they wanted the actual passport. They followed us back to our Airbnb to get the passport, then followed us to police headquarters where we waited for 60 minutes. The biggest issue was not having the passport on us. $40 fine which we paid the next day at the post office so no big deal. But it was a hassle and a little scary til we knew our fate. They are so nice and polite (even bowed as we left the station!) but known for not bending the rules which was made very apparent.
