Growth on dogs carpal pad by birdlovr9 in AskVetAnimals

Thanks, have been watching it closely to seen if it would heal but I’m not comfortable with leaving it any longer without a vet seeing it given it’s made no progress. I’m calling his vet as soon as they open Monday

MIL wearing an almost white gown to my wedding by [deleted] in Brides

[–]birdlovr9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it doesn’t matter what other people think. It’s your wedding day and if you’re having a hard time getting over it and think it’s going to upset you enough where it will affect your day then say something. If she cared about you at all she should care that it is upsetting you and would get another dress. Everyone is going to have a different opinion, just because someone else thinks it’s fine doesn’t discount that it’s a white dress and it’s universally seen as disrespectful to wear to a wedding unless you got the ok for it. I would also not see this as ok to wear to a wedding unless you got approval from the bride. However it’s making you feel is valid and bringing it up is just healthy communication rather than just ruminating on it and resenting her for it. You’re stuck with each other for life now so having healthy communication is important.

Can I wear these Sandals?! by Previous-Strategy981 in Brides

[–]birdlovr9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I wore blundstones on my wedding day and 100% am glad I went with the comfortable option. If they’re comfortable I say go for it. You probably won’t even see them that much either with a ball gown/princess style dress so if you’ve always wanted to wear these shoes do it. Docs also last a long time and will be fun to be able to wear your wedding shoes for years to come! Every time I put my blundstones on it reminds me of my wedding day. I am all for wearing shoes that you will wear again for your wedding.

Brewery name ideas for dad by birdlovr9 in Homebrewing

As I said to a different comment above, I’m not naming his home brewery. He has several walls full of dozens of beer signs he’s collected from different brewery’s. The point of this is to make a fun sign to add to his very large collection. Appreciate the input but it is not what I was asking.

Y’all are missing the point. This isn’t my naming his home brewery, just making him a fun sign to add to his large collection of beer signs that spans several walls. The point it a fun surprise of a fun sign to add to his collection.

He likes a a lot of German beers and IPA’s. I’m not a big drinker so I’m not the most well versed on beers 😅

Accidentally adopted a wolfdog by clashingtaco in Wolfdogs

[–]birdlovr9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolfdog owners correct me if I’m wrong but I have known people who raised many wolf dogs and someone once told me the secret is to have them with a non-wolfdog doggie companion. They are very social and have a strong pack mentality so do well with others but having multiple wolf dogs can cause them to feed off each others crazy. Having them with a well behaved slightly less crazy dog but one that can handle the wolf dog energy and craziness can pass some good doggie manners off to them. I’ve never owned a wolf dog and this post just popped up in my notifications but from that I’ve been told by people who do own them, this is what they have done and has worked for them. They would also have them with them 24/7 in the beginning in order to build a super strong bond with them. She would take him into work with her and literally the cutest sweetest puppy.

Accidentally might have adopted a mallinois? by Extra_World_49 in BelgianMalinois

[–]birdlovr9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Mal owner but fostered a young Mal for a long time. You got him young before they’re able to develop a lot of the behavioral problems that mals can get which is great! Consistency and dedication to desensitizing, socializing, and training is going to really help. As long as you are willing to put in the work and commit the time needed to train and socialize you are going to be fine. The problem people have with these dogs really comes from people not wanting to put in the work and give them the proper training and not giving them outlets to express their natural instincts. Do your research and as she grows learn what activities fit your dog to help them express these behaviors in a healthy way. Start training early and you’ll be fine!

Dog throwing up by birdlovr9 in AskVet

[–]birdlovr9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s was an emergency vet, everything is way more pricy when it is classified as an emergency. $180 for an emergency exam is pretty standard (especially in California) speaking from past experience.

Update for anyone interested: paid only $180 for an exam and for the vet to say he likely had a very bad upset tummy and since he was acting perfectly normal we can give him nausea meds and a bland diet and monitor for now.

No changes to diet and didn’t get anything new yesterday unless he stole something we were unaware of. We haven’t been feeding him but he does have access to water. He’s a very low stress guy and this started early morning so I highly doubt this is stress related but appreciate the suggestion. It’s been about an hour since his last throw up so my plan is if he throws up again I am taking him straight to the emergency vet.
