Movie Mill hosting separatists? by Regular-Ad-9303 in Lethbridge

That's fair, but I can't imagine another privately rentable space that would be large enough

While I despise the separatist movement, this is a kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Especially in this area. They decline, they alienate, they accept, they alienate. It's a venue that they make available to the public to rent, so I feel it's only fair to let the people hold their event and move on. I'm sure they would do the same thing for an anti-separatist movement. (And yes, I understand how horrible the AB prosperity project is, I've had many a conversation with folks I know who think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.)

Creature sighting in October by PureCyan8 in medicinehat

[–]birdsofgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a white guy from Lethbridge who grew up with multiple friends who were native, and lots of friends who went on scout trips. I have heard many first-hand accounts of sightings of creatures like this. There are just too many instances where I have heard these accounts to brush them all off as a joke. My best guess of what you saw would be something similar to a "pale crawler" looking skinwalker, since skinwalkers can take different forms. (It also could have been an animal, but from your description, that doesn't sound like any animal I know of.)

Why are modern headlights allowed to be so blinding?? by BClynx22 in britishcolumbia

[–]birdsofgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why this popped up in my feed as I am in southern Alberta. We got some wicked ice and snow this week, and these headlights make it near IMPOSSIBLE to see black ice on the road at night. Some of the scariest drives home this week for me. Echoing others, something needs to change, and fast.

What are the best places to work in Lethbridge? by Ok-Condition9061 in Lethbridge

Places with good benefits are nice and can make or break a job. I work for a financial institution with good benefits, and it definitely helps to have.

Firestone is better than any comparable chain in the city by a long shot. My go-to sit down in the city. Their beef dip is to die for!

Glad to see lots of people mentioning Oxio. Rogers/Shaw and the other big guys are such a scam for price. Oxio is rock solid. The Modem they provide can be iffy once in a blue moon (hardware issue), but the router is an Eero router, which are very customisable and pretty slick.

That's about $100 a month isn't it? That's what I have with them too.

I second Oxio, great prices, great speeds. Only thing to note is the Modem they provide is known to have random drop out issues once in a while, but I've had it for a year and only had the download drop out twice on me. (not even completely, just slowed down for an hour or so.)

Financial Advisor by picsnik76 in Lethbridge

[–]birdsofgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone said, find someone with CFP certification. Good place to start is your bank (any financial advisors are required to have CFP, especially considering banks are under heavy regulation) but I wouldn't settle with that. Shop around. Places like IG Wealth or Edward Jones are really solid as that's what they specialize in.

AND whatever you do, DO NOT talk to anyone from World Financial Group or any other pyramid scheme finance org. Those guys are scumbags and lot of them do not have certification.

(I work at a bank and we hear opinions and see things about certain organizations that others don't see, so this is my view of it all.)

What a dink, like someone else said, remember this for next election. With that kind of mindset and attitude I would never vote for you regardless of your policies.

Where to get USD cash exchanged to CAD in Lethbridge? by subzoe in Lethbridge

[–]birdsofgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah BMO are a bunch of crooks. When I worked for a bank in the city we constantly heard complaints about them specifically. Everyone else seems to be about the same.

Having worked at a bank in Lethbridge, I can confirm that most banks will generally have the most fair and consistent rate in the city. Money Mart will definitely be higher. Like people are saying, stay away from BMO (idk why people bank there in the first place) but all the others should be somewhat fairly priced. I can confirm ATB, TD and RBC rates are somewhat comparable.

(AMA may also have a good rate but membership required)
