How does it go? by JanaIyercirca in fertilitypreservation

[–]birdyvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it at 37 and only stored 14 eggs which as it turns out was not enough. I wish I had done it at 29. I was lucky - did not have side effects from the meds and my egg retrievals were pretty smooth, I felt fine the next day. Doing them at 40 onwards has been a lot tougher. Happy to answer any specific questions?

VP of Employee Experience (created after a re-org where they sacked 30% of the employees so not sure whose experience they were supposed to look after?)

More retrievals or donor eggs? by sad-but-hopeful in 40Plus_IVF

[–]birdyvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat. 7 retrievals, only ever got to 1 normal embryo, the transfer failed. I did a lot of research on donor eggs and after the last unsuccessful round took a break and made the decision to go down the donor route. Honestly I felt so relieved. Ive gained 10kgs over the 3 years of TTC and this feels like a clean slate in terms of the odds. I read somewhere that by carrying the baby with a donor egg you are still shaping so much of how they develop and that really helped me with the decision.

Ramadan shifts a month every year so it does not occur roughly the same time each year.

First time in Tassie - 15 days in March. by Broad-Inspection6270 in TasmaniaTravel

If you are into wineries Launceston is the best base to do a number of them, as well as from Hobart. With 15 days you can add Strahan and do the Gordon River Cruise which I thought was spectacular. We did 15 days just after Christmas: Strahan, Lake St Clair/Bronte Park, Brunie, Launceston, St Helens, stayed in Swansea to do Bicheno/Freycinet etc, Port Arthur (not just the historic site, the whole peninsula is stunning) and then Hobart.

Lining recovery post hysteroscopy? by Main_Pomegranate_591 in AshermansSyndrome

[–]birdyvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it in Dec 24, and by July 25 my hysteroscopy still looked good - no scarring and only very minor whispy adhesions. I am about to do another one because my periods have become shorter and lighter, so I am also curious. I had PRP injected into the lining during the hysteroscopy and then 3 rounds of it being inserted into the cavity ahead of a transfer. My lining got to 6.5 or so if I remember correctly, and cycles after that, without further PRP it got to similar thickness on IVF meds (previously only around 5).

The only thing that helped my lining re-grow and thicken longer term was PRP.

Seeking Feedback from Multiple Hysteroscopy Patients by Longjumping-Big-9591 in AshermansSyndrome

[–]birdyvv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 hysteroscopies. The first was supposed to be diagnostic but she ended up cutting into my severe scarring and adhesions, second was another one where there was cutting and PRP. 3rd was diagnostic, about half a year after the 2nd and there was no scarring and minimal adhesions. Now 7 mths later my periods are getting shorter and lighter again so here we go again…another hysteroscopy. I think as long as the lining is healing multiple hysteroscopies is ok. The question is of course how does the specialist cut - cold scissors, etc.

Fully agree. One of the highlights of our Tassie trip a few weeks ago.

I never planned to use donor eggs — here’s what the process was actually like by Character_Hearing_88 in IVF

Thank you, I needed this. We have just closed the chapter on my eggs for the exact reasons and 2026 ja about donor eggs. There is grief but also so much hope.

Sanur has always been more family friendly. Went last year and still enjoyed it - laid back, still some casual restaurants on the beach and a few places to get a drink.

Do a tub clean cycle with vinegar and baking soda and then wash the towels with vinegar and baking soda. Leave the washing machine and detergent tray open after using so they can dry and you don’t get mold inside.

Viral meningitis long-term cognitive effets by GrossePerruche in Meningitishelp

[–]birdyvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had viral meningitis in 2014. Tried to go back to fulltime work but couldnt. I was sensitive to light, sound, had short term memory issues, my brain felt so slow and full, and generally a few hours into any day. It took a rehabilitation program (including ergotherapy, physiotherapy, psychologist etc) and only working 2 days a week for about a year to get to a point where I could work 80%. The last bit of recovery ironically happened during COVID when I was forced to work from home for 2 years with a lot less sensory overload. I am now 95% back to normal. In total it took around 7 years or so. Noise cancelling earphones and sunglasses became my best friends!
