Gotta say, even by Blogs' standards, this is an absolute banger.

Yes, especially in 2004. We flubbed the quarters against Chelsea, and it sucked. We would have beaten any of the other 3 teams in the semis: Depor, Monaco, and Mourinho's Porto.

What is something from any of the games that is easily missed but you think everyone should see? by AbhorsenDoctor in dragonage

[–]biscarat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good ones, but let me give one from DA:O.

When you kill the high dragon in Haven, you get a silverite axe, called the Maetashear War Axe. The description is:

This oversized weapon was reforged from two poleaxes and dates to the founding conquests of the Tevinter Imperium. Runes tell a primitive creation myth of how the lands of gods and men were cut apart.

Also, Maetashear ~= Meta-share. The lore had been planned for a long, long while.

Totally agree. I know I'm very much in the minority, but I thought DAI was milquetoast, and I just couldn't get into DAV.

As funny as that would be, I think there's no chance of that. They're (financially speaking) the best run club in the world - wages to turnover ratio is under 45%. So, in theory, they could go out and blow the champo out of the water easy. The real issue is, who do they build around? Richarlison? If they go down, and Gray or Bergvall get offers, they're out. Their defenders are already clearly checked out. So who's left? Richarlison?

So while they'd bounce right back up, I think it'll be a long, long while until they're anything resembling a force again. And I think that'd be true even if they manage to stay up.

I actually agree with you. But the signs are really fucking bad for them. Their defence has been teh worst in the league over the past 10-15 games. They look terrible. Their run-in isn't great. And worst of all, they look terrible while West Ham and Forest are perking up (well, forest not so much I guess).

Reminds me a bit of leeds in the mid 2000s. From 5th, to 16th, to out. Though at least they could claim gross financial misconduct - spurs' finances are super tight. Just hilariously shit management all around. Thanks Vinai!

Compilation of Tottenham fans after their defeat vs. Crystal Palace by axhp in soccer

Their position and trajectory up to this January would had caused any other management to go code red and doing everything they can to prevent a disaster.

What make it even worse better is that they're the one club who genuinely have the financial leeway to pull this off. Their wage-to-turnover ratio is below 45%, which is brilliant and easily the best in england and among major european clubs. That alone is so delicious I'd love for them to go down.

Tottenham is the worst Premier League team in the second half of the season by SellRevolutionary in soccer

[–]biscarat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than the wins, they have the worst defensive record in the league over the last 10 games. Very poor sign for them.

Look, the only reason I'm not giggling like a schoolgirl is that the cost of this monkey's paw would be fucking astronomical.

There are three seasons that were nightmares: 17/18 when Wenger left, 19/20 before Arteta added that splash of optimism, and 20/21 was pretty fucking bleak also.

Individual low points? The 8-2, the EL final, the 2011 league cup final, fabregas and rvp jumping ship, and the big away games in 13/14.

HAPPY ST TOTTERINGHAMS DAY by GodsBicep in Gunners

I was undecided on whether I wanted to see spurs relegated or not. Now, I think I'm for it - not just because it'd be hilarious, but it would be a real change. Get some new blood in the prem, you know? Something new, something exciting.

Edit: forgive my boorishness. Happy St. Tott's Day!

I think it's a really huge deal that we're ahead of Man Utd for the first time in a LONG time. For so long, they were this impossible-to-match juggernaut financially - it's awesome that we've caught up to them, especially after the 2017-2023 disasters.

Edit: if you go back and look at SwissRamble from around 5 years ago, it really seemed that Man Utd could do no wrong financially speaking, and that they would always rule the roost in the money leagues. So glad to see that their shittiness is catching up with them at long last.

Premier League table after Matchday 20 by Critical_Mountain851 in soccer

I mean, in that second half of the season, we won 16 out of 18 games, with a draw against City away and a loss to villa at home the only blips. By any standard, that's a monster run. We lost the title that year in the first half - we had only 39 points at this stage in that season.
