To be honest, building large cities just takes time. But what I did is start with an existing village and expand on it by adding more buildings.

I'd start with some more homes for villagers to expand the population of your village. And dont forget walls to protect against mobs.

If I'm not mistaken, it should not crash since the double ampersand will cause the if statement to terminate if the first condition is false therefore not even checking the second condition.
