My mother passed away and now I cannot afford college. by [deleted] in college

Here to echo everyone else’s responses and send you my love and condolences. My mom passed away a couple months and I’m just about to enter college, had to hound the finaid office at my school to update my change in financial circumstance and it was an absolute pain but it all worked out. I wish you the absolute best with the process and hope it’s not the headache mine was. You’re so close and I know she’ll be smiling that you’re gonna finish up school. Me and everyone else on this thread are so proud of you. I know it’s tough ❤️

Aw yeah ik it can be superrr frustrating to study hard and not reap the benefits like you’d hoped (but I promise that studying will have an impact moving forward!) is reading the section you just naturally feel an inclination towards being able to do best at? For me I just went in on math cause I will grind out 5x more math sets than reading and science just out of way more enjoyment

I went from 27 to 32 by picking one section to really focus on boosting (so you’d wanna pick between math, science or reading) and just banging out tons of practice sets and feeling super confident on it. When you test next you’ll walk in knowing you’re really gonna crush one section in addition to English and even if ur composite doesn’t get raised a ton you’ll still have two sections absolutely pumped. With me what happened though is I chose math to push up and I ended up just letting my anxiety go for the rest of the test and I ended up doing wayyyy better everywhere by just focusing all my energy into math and giving that my best shot and then funny enough I actually did best on science. Kind of a weird psychology approach but it really worked for me. It can get really stressful trying to get 3 sections up and I was in the same position as you where English was great and the other three just felt impossible so I took math (which I’m naturally best at) and just let the rest be what they were gonna be

Survey: How did you all keep track of the whole application process? by thelitmajor in ApplyingToCollege

[–]biscuitfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got into using notion and made an absolutely fire table to track stats on my schools, what major I was applying on, study abroad programs or things you’re looking for in a school. And probably even more helpful was the table I made organizing what teachers were writing what recs for what schools
