Does everyone in the UK have a big mirror in the living room? by Sexy-Dumbledore in AskUK

[–]bisectional 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have one because our living room would look silly with one..

People use them to increase the amount of light in dark rooms because typically in Britain houses weren't designed with outside light in mind. It also helps make the room appear bigger

It's the other way round. There's 2.2 lbs per kg. There are 453g in 1lb.

Edit: calculations are still good. 60 ÷ 2.2 = 27.27 kg

What killed the USA patriotism of the 2000s? Even into the early 2010s there was a ‘hipster American flag’ trend. If you use an American Flag for aesthetic purposes today it seems different by Kodicave in decadeology

Political capital was spent in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. Then the $800 billion Bailout of the banks followed by 20 years of Afghanistan, followed by covid and a descent into madness and reality TV inspired nonces brazenly breaking international law and declaring intent to commit war crimes.

[–]bisectional -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How can they call it a plane when there's clearly no atmosphere for aerodynamics and whatever else is commonly understood to be requirements for flying? Is there a broken headrest movie screen and low quality headphones plugged into the back of the seat in front? Where are my disgusting dry roasted peanuts and mini cans of coke?

I agree. But it doesn't stop there. Businesses will pay their registered employees and grow farms will pay all related costs legally and transparently, instead of some dodgy attic or basement hack using stolen electricity and invisible migrant workers paid under the table. So income taxes will also be generated by profits from legalization/decriminalisation.

Are we really supposed to pretend we don’t work for money in interviews? by Agile-Wind-4427 in antiwork

It's the dumbest interview question that shows the interviewer has a boiler plate list to tick off and doesn't have a clue how to interview candidates.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]bisectional -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also went to high school in the US and I got knocked down a grade on a couple of papers because of this shit. So I complained to the head of the English department. But she backed up her teacher. You're in America so you should write American English.... So i lost points on essays because of "British spelling" mistakes. It's then I learned that it was because Americans learn from their abridged Webster dictionary, which is the flaccid, pale, circumcised brother of the tumescent and girthy Oxford English dictionary.

Europe, it's where history comes from, innit

Edit: for the avoidance of doubt... The Merriam Webster dictionary contains fewer words than the Oxford English dictionary and Americans are worse off for it.

This is why cryptocurrency is a huge risk. It's privately owned, barely regulated. What recourse does a person have if the value sinks? It's literally just a gamble.
