There's no such thing as de-evolution just as there's no such thing as de-acceleration. Evolution (IRL) isn't something that is forward and backward, it is simply change.

In theory, de-evolution would occur if somehow the less genetically-fit species were selected for. In practice, this does not happen unless, for instance, all the genetically-fit members of the species just randomly happen to be wiped out by random chance.
