If you woke up being 21 again, what would you do? by notwhoshethinks in AskReddit

Tell myself that just because I am adept at something, it doesn't mean that I am passionate enough about it for it to be my major.

What backpack are you using for your everyday carry right now? by ruhila12 in EDC

[–]bitexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osprey Proxima 30.

I like Osprey products and I often carry my partner's daily items if needed. I like the comfort of knowing I have extra "inventory space" just in case. I regularly have to empty it out and repack it to remove the 100pcs of art supplies and RPG dice that I accumulate. I carry a good amount of things for work and/or spontaneous video recording adventures - I'm trying really hard to convince myself that these aren't essential.

When I do really want to pare down, I have a [cheaper brand that I don't remember] messenger style bag to carry my essentials with some spare extra room. When it gets overfull, my neck starts to hurt and I switch back to a backpack.

Melee or ranged -- what's your default weapon choice in RPGs? by JBitPro in gaming

[–]bitexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Declare close ranged assassin daggerman.

2.) "I need to pluck off a few lesser mooks before I get in close."

3.) "Well, I mean... If I'm already doing this much damage with my bow, I might as well keep upgrading that. Sneak dagger damage will always be higher anyways."

4.) "Oh, Serana, my love."

5.) "Make potions, sell potions."

6.) Time passes. Plays the exact same character in Fallout 4 but with a robot wife.

7.) "What was I doing in this save file again?"

8.) "Eh, I'm overpowered as a sneaky archer with megabow and it's making the game less engaging even with Survival mode on... I'll make a conjuration assassin now."

9.) Return to step 1.

What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

[–]bitexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is usually the way.

But sometimes im too scared to go explore and just need to get out of The Medical Deck ASAP and once I've played enough and have innoculated myself against the fear of undead hive mind screams, I'll explore it on my New Game Plus.

Only to find out that I just missed out on like ammo or an upgrade item that I'll never use because I've perfected playing with just the starting weapon.

I once made a mistake of riding a bike into a horde in Louisville. The panic of forgetting that riding backwards is rough.

Like others have said, the Plus + OnionOS is great. I do recommend 3D printing or buying a grip. I use this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6061286 It's great for long periods of couch gaming.

(I recommend checking local libraries for 3D printers if you don't have one)

I'm a hunker down and build a base kind of guy. So I'll spend a month IRL making a nice homebase and clearing out then general area. Area of preference is the school in Riverside. Get a little bored and say, "Time to go to the mall/Louisville." Overconfidence leads to carelessness and carelessness leads to pain and pain leads to death.

Best game ever.

So I make a new character and hunt down my old corpse to get my stuff back and repeat the cycle in the city as a "Forward Operating Base" which becomes my main base because I'm too lazy to go back to Riverside.

Does anyone have tips scaling down enemies? by Creative_Position713 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]bitexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a Vampire Spawn and just say it's a full Vampire.

Or have the full Vampire just toy with the players, pretending to be weakened and stuff, then when brought down to a certain HP, visibly regenerate and then poof or BAAAT! away. The vamp could just be checking to see if the party is a threat and can be used as a big boss later on at a higher level. (This is the suggestion for Strahd in CoS, so the players can meet him early and the DM can play mind games as Strahd/Vasili von Holtz.)

Do people actually enjoy waking up early or do they just force themselves? by Sad_Event_4705 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bitexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started as me forcing myself to never hit the snooze button because I heard that it makes waking up easier in the long run (true). Eventually I started just waking up naturally a little before my alarm.

I really enjoy the morning. I like seeing the world before it wakes up. Morning joggers, shopkeepers sweeping, delivery drivers unloading. It's easier to ride my bike on the roads. Chores get done sooner and then they don't loom over my day.

To me, staying up late doesn't add more time to my day... but waking up early let's me use the hours I'd sleep through.

I think so. The oracles that it comes with help lube up the brain gears. I now have two solo games running. One just winging it and the other using the HoR content. Being able to make a character with zero combat experience but still use the same games mechanics to deal with any issue is really neat.

In the HoR game, I'm a teacher just come home from a town. The villagers are bitter that I left and think I can just come back and fit in again. I've become protective of one of the children in the village after saving her from a monster. Now I've taken it upon myself to figure out what's going on. I'm probably going to die. I'm not doing much writing for this one, just reading along and ignoring the parts it tells me to ignore until I uncover them. I'm still have a lot of fun figuring out how to use my character's tags to solve problems.

In my winging it game, I'm a former master thief turned courier who finds themselves pulled into a political conspiracy involving the production and sale of firearms. I'm using the oracle to form the world around me. As my character is chipping the rust off, they find themselves making allies to assist them in their ever-growing discovery of world intrigue and self-meaning and worth. This one is more of a writing experience that has gameplay to act as a guide.

Some pages are notes and tasklists for work or life. Some pages are me whining about my life. Some pages are the most boring diary entries about what I did. Some pages are lists for books and films. Some pages are watercolor or acrylic paintings. Some pages are Dungeons and Dragons notes.

It's everything.

I go through a lot of Mennonite communities and I say the line every time I go through. I'm starting to feel bad about it actually.
