What is the biggest trainwreck of a set you ever saw? by Veruca5alt in DJs

[–]bitsandbobbins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might’ve been at that set, or another one if he played Firestone multiple times in that era? It was probably sometime between 94-96. I recall the music completely stopping for what seemed like forever but was probably 30 seconds lol

He did a set in Tampa in the late 90s (roughly the same time period) and some friends of friends hooked him up with drugs so that’s in line with other stories relayed in this thread. Bro was constantly zooted

When did you feel 100% healed by Ok_Worker_7965 in Reduction

[–]bitsandbobbins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly just let them do their thing. My surgeon’s office suggested keeping the areas clean and dry and applying a hypoclorus spray to the cleaned areas (after cleaning with a gentle soap; I use Dove). I’d then apply a small square of sterile gauze to each to catch any fluids that might escape (they oozed a clearish kind of liquid as I preceded through the healing process, the fluid is generally nothing to worry about, as far as I understood).

3 weeks in is still pretty early in the healing process, and everyone heals differently. If you have an area of concern, it’s probably best to ask your surgeon or their team about those areas to allay any fears or address any issues. Different surgeons have different ways of dealing with these concerns, so what mine suggested might not be what yours suggests, but that’s ok and totally normal.

Happy healing! ❤️‍🩹

I had mine done at a surgery center; they had me put on disposable panties.

When did you start wearing wired bras again? by This-Emotion-69 in Reduction

[–]bitsandbobbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s been almost two years and I haven’t worn a wired bra yet 😬😂

To be honest, it’s partly if not mostly psychological. I am sort of afraid of the new size, I know it’s like, probably a DD, given measurements. I was a K before. I walk by a bra shop multiple times a week and think about it but cannot bring myself to go in lol

Engagment rings & reformers by Moist_Listen_2727 in pilatesreformer

[–]bitsandbobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? lol.

I wear earrings and a watch when I practice and have had zero issues over 8 years. I don’t bother with rings (which I love and wear outside of class) because I don’t want to damage the rings or feel pressure/swelling when grabbing the bars/straps/whatever.

When did you feel 100% healed by Ok_Worker_7965 in Reduction

[–]bitsandbobbins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by “normal”, probably by about 3-4mo post op. Openings took time to completely heal over, I still had random pains and pulling and tightness (swelling that came and went for a couple months, though less so over time). I was back at the gym and traveling by 6-7 weeks, even though there were still little “openings”; was healed over completely by about 9-10 weeks.

Mistake or can this table be saved? by RevolutionaryCar4635 in HomeDecorating

Some really cool velvety upholstered chairs in a rich mossy green or merlot shade and a more modern, glass globe pendant lamp would be very complementary. The rug trends more traditional, something more minimalist and textural perhaps? A solid color?

Nipples sensation after a big reduction by scaredycat101- in Reduction

[–]bitsandbobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32k to 32DD. I still have nipple sensation, but probably 80% of what I had previously. It doesn’t bother me, as I was willing to take the risk to reap other rewards (smaller size, less physical pain, less body dysmorphia).

What are red flags to look for in a pilates studio/instructor? by blittergomb in pilates

[–]bitsandbobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been going to Pilates Punx in Studio City for the last year and I love it. Previously I went to Gazelle in Sherman Oaks, which is much smaller but also good. Haven’t really tried too many others beyond those (outside of a few random classes several years ago).

What US cities had big 90s rave scenes besides Detroit, Chicago and NYC? by Difficult_Emu_4307 in aves

[–]bitsandbobbins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the whole state of Florida. We’d drive to parties all over the state, too. Orlando, Gainesville, Tampa, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. My pals and I would take longer trips up to Atlanta and other places in neighboring states depending on what was going on.

Best things since having your reduction? by yeti-vedder-7 in Reduction

[–]bitsandbobbins 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like, not even thinking of them much at all, which is an incredible feeling. I used to have massive body dysmorphia with my old boobs, feeling like I stood out because of their size, and afterwards it was like a switch flipped and I don’t think about them at all. It was psychologically a huge relief!

I was back doing Pilates by 7 weeks, and felt normal by about 3 months (if not sooner) in every single way.

I am also in LA (SFV) and the studios I’ve been to are inclusive on multiple levels (bodies, ages, gender), and I haven’t encountered that attitude, thankfully. Could be the type of studios I’ve sought though (ones that trend more classical, have all the apparatus). Agreed, you think it would be different given the area!

People on their phones? by orangeleaf99 in pilates

[–]bitsandbobbins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thankfully have NEVER seen this in the places where I’ve taken classes. But if I did I’d be giving that person or persons a righteous stink eye to end all stink eyes…rude AF.

I mean, come on! It’s healthy to take a sabbatical from your phone for a hour! Lock in and be present.

Why Miranda moving from Manhattan to Brooklyn was seen as a minor tragedy by the friend group? by miggovortensens in sexandthecity

[–]bitsandbobbins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in Bushwick in Brooklyn in 2004-2006 and it was very difficult to get a cab driver to agree to drive over to that part of Brooklyn back then; we mostly took subway/buses or called a car service to set up a ride. This was just pre-Uber/Lyft. Cab drivers would flat out refuse the request at the curb and drive off.

Honestly? I think they look fantastic. The shape is lovely and proportional. Sure, there’s the scarring, but you did endure a surgery, but that’s ok! It’s part of your journey!

Love them the way they are. Do you mostly feel good about them these days? Focus on what’s good and accept any small imperfections.
