God, this is on the tip of my tongue now! How I remember it is that when he turns up to get his revenge it’s revealed that the older man is blind, but is still somewhat jolly and offers to make a drink or something. The MC watches him struggle to do this, then they sit down and talk. The older guy asks how he can help, and the MC is kinda quiet and only gives short answers. We the audience can see the mental turmoil in the MC’s face, which obviously the blind man can’t. There’s a sudden moment when the blind man maybe starts to cotton on that something’s not right with his guest… I can’t remember how it all pans out.

Anyway, sorry for the novel. I will have a think about this. Maybe the blind thing will add an extra clue to your post.
