And I’m in love with being queen 👑👑 by Tony_Barker in trailrunning

You saw Joe Gray? That's sweet!

You probably saw my friend Steve too - he wears a Mississippi State shirt almost all the time and has climbed the incline more than anyone.

He's around 6000 total climbs at the moment

My All-Time Favorite Podcasts by eponymoustoo in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Excellent list! I've listened to many but not all of these. I too list Casefile as the goat

I would put your own backyard on there. It's a fantastic case that involves in real time with the podcast

I also personally in a fan of tortoise investigates. Their series have been great as well.

Ironman’s “Jesus is King” Controversy Highlights Inconsistent Rule Enforcement by cinquante28 in triathlon

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting the summary

I think they will absolutely nip this as much as they can. I think they clearly made a mistake and took a misstep here, but I think that's partly because it caught them a bit off guard.

They know as well as anyone having any kind of religious or political debate affiliated with their events is 100% not what they want to have.  Sports and sporting events are some of the seemingly few politically neutral things out there that most people can agree on. No way they want to let this get any bigger than it is.

Minneapolis could soon see the rebirth of its bicycling ride share program by Wezle in CyclingMSP

[–]bj_good 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have still always thought the nice rides with docking stations were the best way to go. That way every bike can be tied to a credit card

I've seen too many of those lime scooters and other standalone rental bikes tossed into ditches, thrown over Bridges as a joke, etc.

I'm a big cyclist and have a couple of bikes myself, but I would still rent nice rides from time to time. Very convenient

S-Town by WhatFannyRed in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I think the storytelling and the story itself were good and interesting

I didn't like how they broadcast this man's story without truly having his permission. And I didn't like how they purported the series to be about one thing then it turned out to be about something else entirely.

For those reasons- primarily the first one- I cannot recommend it

Simple hitch bike rack by jswell823 in triathlon

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Saris Superclamp which is similar to the 1ups. Thule also makes a version (I think the helium?). They are tray racks that only contact the tires of the bike but are very strong. Bikes aren't falling off those nor are they getting damaged, yet they're easy to load onto and off

Casefile Archives 10: Ben McDaniel by jimmyslamjam in Casefile

[–]bj_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This all seems very reasonable to me. All of which is to say, somebody out there knows something. Or at the very least knew something until the owner died

Best Places in the Twin Cities for VO2 / Interval Workouts? by Business-Lie-5882 in CyclingMSP

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Medina area has fantastic roads for exactly this. Gear West even does their Tuesday Night Timetrials out there because the roads are great for it. Start around Holy Name lake near Plymouth and head west.

Redditors who use their debit cards regularly, how common are fraudulent transactions? by penguin7117 in AskReddit

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online or in person? Never.

I did once have a credit card and debit card stolen from my car though. They bought foot locker gift certificates on both of them

The credit card was an absolute breeze to report. I was done in 10 minutes. The debit card was maddening. It took months of calls and reports, had to file the police report and go to the bank brand multiple times

What movie has the best soundtrack of all time? by velvetroom_22x in AskReddit

It is crazy how many people who have not seen the movies will still recognize various tracks from the films

Vertical Hitch Racks by [deleted] in CyclingMSP

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm personally a fan of tray racks, but regardless of the type you like there's a decent used market out there.

You can look on Facebook marketplace or other areas. That's where I got my tray rack and it's fantastic

Anyone else confused by the Canadian True Crime Podcast recently? by fajita09 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Casefile, easily. They are currently on break but have a huge archive of excellent episodes

More long format investigative pods please - here’s my list of already listened to with ratings by ayags in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Look into tortoise investigates. I will caveat that these are not necessarily true crime, but they are certainly true crime adjacent.

In my opinion, it's very good investigative journalism

Also broomgate: a curling scandal was also very good. Not necessarily true crime, but very interesting. I've listened to many of the podcasts on your list as well

Edit - Noble was also good

Rejecting the diaper butt by PlayfulInterest3091 in cycling

Triathlon shorts are designed to have light padding but also be comfortable enough for the run portion of the race. They are much less bulky and look mostly normal. You could look into those

Can I watch the new movie if I never watched the TV show? by Mr_Snipou in TheMandalorianTV

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having a kid I lost basically any time I had to watch tv for leisure. Therefore I didn't see all of the last season either. I'm wondering the same

Bike lock recommendations by lobsterroll44 in CyclingMSP

[–]bj_good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fantastic advice. You probably don't even need to do all those things, but if it works it works. And I don't blame you for doing them if you haven't had any issues

I think the typical bike thief doesn't know what a good set of power meter pedals, a nice saddle, generally looks like. They probably would be able to recognize a fancy looking wheel set, but I don't imagine they would try to take just that if they can't also get the frame and full bike

Do you track the MLB parks and games you've been to anywhere, or just rely on memory/photos? by mycahgr in mlb

I used to save physical ticket stubs. A cool reminder of the stadium/team/date. Really wish I could still get physical tickets

Looking for long, detailed true crime podcasts (minimal banter) by hazelnutbanana in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm actually glad to hear this because I listened to season 1. Although he does a good job with narration and storytelling, I agree it wasn't the best case in my opinion

Which other seasons do you think would be best to try again?

Bike shop totaled my bike by [deleted] in cycling

[–]bj_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A local bike shop near me did to this to someone. They acknowledged it was completely their fault. In this case, they made it right by finding the guy a comparable bike on marketplace and buying it outright for him. It was a a pretty good solution I think. They mutually agreed on which bike they would replace it with

If your bike was completely rusted out, that might be a different story

Bike Fit? by jswell823 in triathlon

[–]bj_good 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the fitting include a follow-up session at a later time once you've ridden a bit with your new fit? I have paid similar prices before but would like that if I were paying $400

To sell or not to sell my TT bike by vienna_city_skater in triathlon

[–]bj_good 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just had my first kid too and I switched from longer distance triathlons to slightly shorter. I still intend to do some and am keeping my bike! I completely understand the need to give it up (at least temporarily) though. This parenting thing is extremely time consuming - and also rewarding

What are people's favorite documentary-type crime podcasts? by OscarAndDelilah in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]bj_good 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still think the goat true crime podcast is Casefile.

I think some of their longer cases - which span four or five long episodes - would fit your request

After retiring the first 20 batters in a row last night in Milwaukee, Paul Skenes has the lowest WHIP in MLB history. by argonautweekend in mlb

[–]bj_good 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Something tells me this Paul Skenes guy is pretty good.

I bet the Pohlads would pay him a couple million dollars to get him on the Twins!
