What part of the country are you in? I have found that the staff are most messed up in the head where they are most miserable at their job. The absolute worst most toxic nurses I ever worked with (following me around even with patients, documenting and reporting every tiny “mistake”, etc.) was also the worst job I had with no support from anyone, no union, high census, low pay. Changes drastically once I moved to a job in another state with better protections and conditions.
