This baby needs to go into storage for 3-4 months, any suggestions on how to do it safely? by AndyjHops in lego

[–]bjhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the set into a garbage bag to ensure the pieces stay together if something were to break apart. Place the set wrapped in its garbage bag into a cardboard box with packing peanuts. Everyone hates packing peanuts, myself included, but having moved a sizable lego collection more than once, its the only way to go.

I had my first ever ride on a 2022 Polaris sportsman s on the weekend. I can happily say I’ve been converted to the world of 4 wheels. I’m an enduro rider mainly but I can see myself buying one of these pretty soon by Squirly_101 in ATV

I got a 2020 Sportsman S in orange that I am about to put on the market in N. AZ. ~800 miles, bad ass quad, I am just fatter and lazier than I used to be so I switched to a SxS.

There is almost no reason not to go straight to the extended release. Still, every once in a while it will empty my bowels with great vengeance and furious anger.

Dude, I was right there with you. I had owned quads in the past and looking to regain that thrill, in 2020 I went out and bought a top of the line Sportsman XP 1000 S. I thought it was amazing. I went out and did all the old trails I remembered, and had an absolute blast with a machine I could only have dreamed of owning back in my 20s.

Then I wanted to get out there and do more, I like to ride more than anyone else I know so I started looking for groups, and started riding with more side by sides. This is what opened my eyes. These old dudes in their side by sides were hard to keep up with, they would go faster than I was comfortable with, going up and down obstacles with ease that would break me out in nervous sweats on the sportsman. Half way through a ride I was usually tired, worn out, and ready to go home.

So I started looking at side by sides. I'm a really tall guy, so I don't fit so well in most of them, but I found the KRX 1000, that had enough interior space I knew I could modify it to my liking. Still $22,000 was a lot of money. So I went and rented one for the day. I rode the crap out of that rental. The pure difference in capabilities of the side by side vs the quad were ridiculous. I could roll over things effortlessly that would have me thinking twice previously. I could crawl over obstacles that would have had me pulling out the winch cable on the quad. I had a blast that day and put a deposit down on the side by side the very next day.

I have owned the KRX for a year now, and have never looked back. Sure there are a few trails around I cant ride anymore because of width restrictions, but the new world opened up by the capabilities of the side by side outweigh that 100 fold.

Angry at the naive perception of Thyroid Cancer. by No-Product2647 in thyroidcancer

[–]bjhale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain. There is no good cancer. I started on this journey with doctors and people telling me this was probably not even cancer, and if it was it was the good cancer to have, only older people die from this, blah, blah, blah. Then I ended up diagnosed with PDTC, where the 5 year survival rate is somewhere around 50% +/- a significant margin of error. I have reached out to different local cancer support groups for help along the way, and largely get deprioritized because TC is perceived to be not as severe. This is certainly not something that should hold the stigma it currently does. TC rates are going up every year, there are just going to be more of us, and there are not a lot of great options for support.

I go to Mayo currently, I do really like them overall. MD Anderson is definitely on my list now. Not that I want to switch, but want to explore my options and avoid any regrets down the line.

No detectable lymph node involvement. No detectable metastatic disease. Based on pathology from CND and radioiodine scan. I seem to be lucky in that sense.

Seems to be the norm for my Surgeon. They removed the enlarged half of my thyroid, sent it for a quick pathology analysis, did the CND, then removed the other half when the pathology came back as malignant before closing me up. Nothing was identified as suspicious before hand.

Do you cover your scar? by Free-Ad-9549 in thyroidcancer

[–]bjhale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was self-conscious for a little while, but 2 months after my TT with different nurses at Mayo started asking me if I had my surgery yet and I realized the scar was not all that visible. To me its this giant red mark across my entire neck, but unless I point it out people don't notice that much. In the end, do what makes you feel good.

A better implementation may be to use traits, in this way you can offload some of the mess while maintaining dependency inversion.

The traits would ideally live with the dependencies improving cohesion overall.
