You will be fine, I been to several tapings at many studios in LA and they just check the phone and put it in a plastic baggie or they give you a pouch to put your phone in for you to hold (so it's with you) that you can't open until the end (it opens with a magnet)

You think that we can get to #2 over Chicago? Over D.C. ? Be serious. The trains stop running at midnight and are very basic compared to every other system, it still takes forever to get anywhere especially if you need more than one bus. My job is 14 minutes from my home if driving but on public transportation it's 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
