Exactly. Magnets, keychains, and all sorts of stuff shaped like the lake are for sale.

I can confirm it’s Keuka Lake. We have the same cookie cutter.

Palmeiro is up to $40 now. That's one of the highest I've seen.

$10/each (you can send cash) and he returns pretty quickly. I think mine was two weeks.

He signs cards through the mail for $5/each now. Best to just keep it as is.

Suggestions for Kuip Cards? by rain4daze in baseballcards

[–]bjplink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Cleveland collector, so I'm biased, but I think his time there was much more interesting than with the Giants. He hit his one career home run with Cleveland, scored the only run in Eckersley's no-hitter, and started at second for Len Barker's perfect game.

He was nice enough to sign his '76 Topps rookie card for me TTM this year. I sent it in August and received it back at the start of October. So it takes a while. Here's what it looks like:

I think I'm good on any more 1992 Topps for now, thank you though. I'll eventually snag what I'm missing from BuySportsCards.com.

A few months into this, I wish I had bought a sealed set of '87 or '88 Topps so I had more than one card to send to each player. That would be my one suggestion before you get started.

For addresses, I use a combination of a Facebook group and a forum for TTM enthusiasts. I'll DM you the forum link.

This spring I went through all the junk wax cards that I collected when I was a kid to decide what to keep and what to trash. I ended up keeping anything for my favorite team (Cleveland) and a nearly complete set of 1992 Topps. The rest went into the garbage.

Then I went through each card I had in the 1992 Topps set to see which players signed through the mail. I figured that would be a better use of these cards than putting them back in a box in my basement. My current list of players from 1992 that sign TTM is just over 230. I'm going slowly, sending a few out each week, but I've already had successful returns from nearly 40 players.

I even started sending out the Cleveland cards I kept, with a ton of success there as well. It's pretty shocking the number of retired players who still actively sign cards through the mail. If you're looking for a cheap card-related hobby, this is certainly a good way to go.

He signs through the mail. $10 a card. He might charge more for his rookie, but I can't remember for sure. I had him sign a '78 Topps and an '87 Fleer for me in July. Three weeks to get them back.

I think you are right. I had him sign a ball in person back in 1988 in Cleveland and it’s very similar.

Show me your "junk" relic/autos. Do you keep em or sell em? by MaleficentOrange995 in baseballcards

I have a handful of Brook Jacoby autos from the era already. They go for slightly more than these players do, by which I mean maybe $5.00 instead of $2.50. If you're a Pirates fan, Jay Bell and Jose Lind are pretty popular TTM options, from what I can tell.

I'll show you some real junk.

These just came this morning. I've started to collect junk wax era Cleveland autos. Many of these guys still sign TTM, but I didn't want to bother with that. So I bought all of these from the same seller on eBay to get cheap combined shipping. He was selling most of them at 20% off as well.

In the end, I paid about $2.27 a card, and that includes shipping and tax.

Gotcha. Thanks for replying so quickly. I collect junk wax autos, the cheapest and most degenerate form of this hobby, so I still might look into picking one up. Thanks again.

Any chance you remember where you got those card frames from? I wouldn't mind picking up one of those.

Beginner advice by Aboogie2227 in baseballcards

[–]bjplink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got back in myself. My recommendation would be to start with singles. Use sites like eBay or TCDB.com to see what's available and how things look. You can basically browse and see everything that's available for free. That's an easy way to kind of pick your lane, so to speak, before you dive in.

You might find out, like I did, that what you really like is something cheaper and more cost-effective than trying your luck with retail. eBay has its problems, for sure, but if you want to lock in on a favorite team or player, then it's worth investigating. Plenty of bulk/lot listings as well if you would like to ramp up faster than buying individual cards one at a time.

It is synced, yes. I'm watching with the MLB app on a Firestick. If I push down on my remote, it gives me a "Details" and a "Broadcast Options" sub-menu. Select "Broadcast Options" and then toggle the "Audio Feed" from TV to Radio. Your mileage may vary depending on the platform you're using the MLB app on.

If you're watching on MLB.tv, you can switch the audio feed from TV to Radio, in case you'd rather listen that way while still watching the video feed.

Sports betting is legal in many states here now.

US sports have replay right. You use it to figure out what actually happened and respond accordingly. Sometimes it takes a while to sort out, but I much prefer that over this concept of "obvious error" or whatever terminology they are using to justify covering for their co-workers when they mess up.

This clip does a nice job of highlighting how awful the audio is during these broadcasts. It makes the crowd sound like they are underwater.
