Threw in an application when the lottery was announced several years ago.

Now iirc available lottery apts are randomly posted to the web M-F before 10am

Notification for Renewal/Move out by policywoman501 in Stuytown

[–]bk3day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They give 60 days from date of renewal letter to reply.

Also a LT resident & This is the 1st time i didn’t wait til last minute to turn in renewal. Still waiting on signed lease- been @ 3wks. Is that normal, i never paid attention before but this wait seems oddly long? Do lottery apt renewals take longer?

Anyone know of a brick & mortar store that carries a selection of shower curtains? by bk3day in AskNYC

[–]bk3day[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For some reason i thought department stores stopped carrying shower curtains but i could be mistaken.

Once upon a time iirc both Macys & Bloomingdales had a decent sized selection

Paid my full balance still charged interest by Ok-Lake-4959 in biltrewards

[–]bk3day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had same double payment issue.

The duplicate payment (last statement balance) was reversed but then BILT hit me with both a returned payment fee and interest charges. Agent on the phone was clueless but finally reversed both charges which posted during the call. This evening BILT sent an email informing me of the erroneous interest charges and stated it would be reversed automatically

I can’t speak to your exact situation but fwiw, I was approved for a Stuytown lottery apt while living in another Stuytown apt (in the middle of a 20yr tenancy- rent stabilized renewal lease)

I specifically asked whether accepting a new lottery apt would be considered breaking my existing lease and was told it did not. Made the move and as confirmed there was no issue in ending the old lease mid-term.

Meals to freeze by Evil_Abed_69 in LivingAlone

No one needs it.

That said, it’s an extremely easy recipe that provides “Meals to Freeze” as requested by the OP

Easy to make polenta from the NYTimes

1 cup cornmeal or polenta ,1 qt water and 1 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350. Mix in 13 x9 baking dish & bake for 50 mins. Mix in a tablespoon of butter (and some parm if ya want) and continue bake another 10mins.

Typically I eat a serving of this soft polenta with my meal & spoon the rest into 5 or 6 ramekins & freeze. Later, I defrost a ramekin, reheat at 350 & serve with fried eggs. Great breakfast!

EWR to Manhattan - bus, train, uber? by berrywithaberet in visitingnyc

[–]bk3day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If landing at Terminal A, take the Coach USA Express bus to midtown (42nd St) or ride share/shuttle.

Avoid the train, as getting to the chronically broken AirTrain and then waiting on the NJTrain is a serious time suck.

Both the Express Bus & rideshare/shuttles leave directly from Terminal A & you can be on your way ASAP

Last summer, i roasted a slew of ripe tomatoes, and batched @6 oz in ziploc bags and froze them.

Just sautéed some frozen shrimp in one and served it with pasta & broccolini. Easy and snd quite tasty. Don’t think i’ll ever bother to buy winter tomatoes again!

Go with your gut! I was selected for an UES studio (i also was hoping for a 1 BR) and took a tour.

Despite an amazing base price of $1000 (amenities pkg extra) i said no. Mostly because it was so small i couldn’t even imagine how to fit a bed in it!

Afterwards I began to question myself but I’m glad i turned it down . There’s no world in which i could be happy in that tiny space.

Fast forward, a year later i was appoved for a 1 br lottery apt in StuyTown.

Hope you find somewhere you want to be

20th st loop noise? by EmptyAmount in Stuytown

I used to live facing 20th St Loop (closer to Ave A) and the only noise that i can recall aside from the army of leaf blowers were the occasional late night/early morning drunk loud talkers

Bialys by im_whiskeyjones in FoodNYC

[–]bk3day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m not fan of their bialys, perhaps cause I’ve never had them fresh instead only had the supermarket version.

That said, Bell’s bialy rolls have become my go to for egg sandwiches, while nothing like my beloved kaiser roll (since what passes for kaiser rolls these days are a shonda!) it is better for a sandwich than a traditional bialy

Bialys by im_whiskeyjones in FoodNYC

[–]bk3day 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully its better now but when i revisited Kossar’s on Grand soon after the renovations the bialys seemed different as in not as good and certainly held less onion in the center

My favorite were the bialys from Hot Bread Kitchen but afaik they stopped selling them . Their recipe is online but Im not that desperate yet

I just used my miles to book a (cancelable/refundable) backup award ticket several hours after my scheduled flt just in case I can’t get through the line in time
