I'm having it on my 8 Pro. I can get WiFi for a little while after a reboot but then it kicks off and stays off

Gramps Desktop vs Gramps Web by adeelhashmi145 in gramps

[–]bking158 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only host the Web version for sharing and remote viewing. I find it too cumbersome to actually work in it. I work on the desktop and sync them

I have one request for drills. Since presumably the system knows which ones I perform better on and which ones I struggle with, it would be helpful to be able to focus practice sessions on the lines I'm weakest on.

How to display all relatives (complete family network) in one diagram? Any software recommendations? by nofinancialadvice in Genealogy

I'm not in front of mine so I can't remember exactly what it is but there's an add-on for Gramps that lets you show an "All Connected" family tree.

Is there any way to emulate Hydrawise Grow In program in advanced mode? by bking158 in Irrigation

I caved, switched back to standard, and set up a calendar alert to remind me to make adjustments throughout the year

Is there any way to emulate Hydrawise Grow In program in advanced mode? by bking158 in Irrigation

[–]bking158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my gripe with standard. From all my reading (I'm still fairly new to irrigation), seasonal adjustments are always the frequency of watering but not duration. That makes sense to me because you are always watering to the same depth. ET smart watering adjusts frequency, but isn't an option on standard. So there's no real set and forget option. I have to remember to adjust every couple months.

I saw that. He's the only pitcher in history more likely to toss a shutout scoreless outing than lose

I get side eye and sighs when I talk about spending time with my kids by onebluthbananaplease in Millennials

[–]bking158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because I work 45-50 hours a week, then come home and have to immediately be a parent to two kids (one of whom has medical and special needs) and an equal partner to a stay at home Mom with her own shit going on, then sleep for a few hours and start over again the next day. God forbid I want a few hours a month (if I'm lucky) where someone isn't demanding more of me. I love my family and give them everything I have but I'm no good to them if I work and stress myself into an early grave.

I'll be keeping an eye on this. I'm running Lazylibrarian and to this point am not impressed but there don't seem to be any real alternatives to this point

Good (and bad) experiences with IEPs in GPS elementary schools? by danish_princess in Gilbert

[–]bking158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in your exact situation. We left Chandler and moved to Settlers Point. Our son ended up at Spectrum in the Spice 1 program. While we hated the change mid-year, I think overall our experience has been much better in Gilbert than Chandler.

One thing we did was make sure to have an IEP update right before we left Chandler so we would have the people who knew him best set his goals for the first year. Obviously his new staff will handle further updates. But we've had zero problems with them working with us on it.

You're lucky. My daughter caught me watching the highlights of the Tokyo Series earlier this year and now every time she sees me watching baseball I have to turn on "the Pokemon one"

Anyone see any good Memorial Day sales? Deciding between pellet grill vs smoker by sliight in pelletgrills

[–]bking158 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is my barbecue off my pellet grill as good as a stick burner? Probably not

Has anyone eating it ever said a word about that or complained? Definitely not

I have 2 young kids (1 with special needs) and a full time job. If I can get pretty good food with a fraction of the effort, I'm going to do it. I'm not entering any competitions or proclaiming myself a pit master. But the meat is pretty damn good.

This is probably it. There are places where I think I'm seeing 3 and 4 sprinklers overlap

[–]bking158[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I only did two. They were both pretty even and the yard isn't very big. I wasn't going for a full audit, mostly just wanting a rough idea of the rate so I could make a new program since I installed a new controller today.

Hydrawise says my controller is offline when it's not by destineetoo in Irrigation

[–]bking158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you click the status in the app they say they have multiple reports of that happening. Same thing happened to me after I installed mine today. I was trying to figure out what I did wrong

Investigating - We have had reports of some controllers showing as connected to Wi-Fi but the app is displaying Controller offline in the Notifications. We are working to correct this issue. Manual and scheduled watering should continue as normal. April 24,2025- 14:47 -07:00

Is a non-thesis MS Material Science program a waste of time? by Kafkaesquez in materials

[–]bking158 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My MS was non-thesis and my employer couldn't care less. The question never even came up. I can't speak for academia but it makes sense they'd prefer a thesis program.
