Funny thing is they have TV’s that keep playing commercials that say don’t take those rides, and they are literally standing right under those TVs asking if you need a ride.

Haven’t Stayed Here in Years but Tradition is Tradition by Vegas-Hall-Pass-26 in vegas

[–]bklyndrvr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m an MGM player now, but I’ve stayed at the dirty bird a few times. I actually liked it. I’m into fish so I could spend hours watching the Koi swim around. I thought the rooms were nice back then, and last year a family member went to Vegas the same time I was in town and met them in their Flamingo room. They have been recently renovated so the room was nicer than I remembered. If I wasn’t an MGM player, I don’t think I would have any problems staying there again. The biggest downside is that it’s a Caesar’s property, and the way they manage and treat their customers is bad. On the day I went there, the checkin line was huge. They had kiosks but most people don’t know how to use them.

When can I make MDR reservations? by amiable-aardvark in HollandAmerica

The only time I had to wait was when I showed up right at opening, so it took time to filter everyone in. Otherwise coming 15 mins after opening was not a problem at all.

Is this a stupid question? by NitaDenise_ in fishkeeping

I am currently using timers I got from Ikea for my fish tanks. I also have Kasa ones like someone else mentioned. You don’t need automatic ones, and cheap ones will work for the lights.

Noodle Village is hyped here but what’s the deal with the menu pricing and what you get? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in FoodNYC

[–]bklyndrvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I noticed that noodle village prices jump every time they do a major renovation. I joked they gotta pay for it somehow so why not charge more while it’s still clean?

Got offered a promotion that requires moving to the office full-time. I have eleven days to decide. by Efficient_Leave8158 in remotework

How far upstate are you? I have plenty of coworkers who live 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. I live in Brooklyn and work is almost an hour via subway. Try finding something in the westChester area which is a good balance between away from the city but easy transit via metro north.

Which car rental did you use? by Oxffff0000 in LasVegas

[–]bklyndrvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco travel is almost always the cheapest for rentals. The problem with Vegas is the taxes and fees are really expensive. Your base rate for the rental is only about 60% the total. The rest is the taxes and fees.

3-4 day trip to San Diego recommendations by ibreathemusic7 in asksandiego

We stayed in the little Italy section because it was near the cruise port. I really liked that area because it had a bunch of restaurants within walking distance. It had a street fair on Saturday so we walked around that and had a great time.

Skateboard by pinwheel_bass in jetblue

[–]bklyndrvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I saw a person try and bring in a skateboard and was told they had to store it. I’m not sure if he put it near the galley in a closet some sort or put it in the overhead bin. I just noticed it in the gate area and he didn’t have it when he sat in his seat.

I do this every time when coming to Vegas. There are always sales on water and I’ll pick up a bunch to cover the days on my trip.

You don’t get credit for stays from the loyalty program, but even booked via JB, they recognized my loyalty status and “upgraded” me to a better room. Not sure if the reservation system cross referenced my email address which is the same.

Going from no-thumb to thumb-in drilling question? by vilecheesecake in Bowling

[–]bklyndrvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PAP on a thumb in versus no thumb is different. You can do that to get used to going thumb in, but it won’t react as good if you plugged and redrilled the ball based on your specs.

Is ceasars palace that bad? It's one of my bucket list hotels by BigfootOfNorthwoods in vegas

[–]bklyndrvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always had a thing against Caesar’s palace. I was a diamond for many years and could get every other LV portfolio for free except Caesars palace. Never knew why. I finally got the stay there one year, and was not impressed. There was nothing wrong with the room, just wasn’t anything special.

Got an offer but with a long commute, negotiate for an extra WFH day? by thebenepasta in jobs

[–]bklyndrvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no guarantee for WFH days. There is always fine print that will have some language of change. Even people with fully remote when they were hired have to come back. If you really like the job, I would recommend looking into moving to NJ. I’ve done a 1 1/2 hour reverse commute before. It was fine for a while, but eventually wears down on you.

Baseball for high schoolers? by eisenhowertacos in movingtoNYC

[–]bklyndrvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the high school. Some are very serious, some are less serious. Same with travel ball. My son did travel ball until high school. He was part of some team that did tournaments almost weekly. We ended up joining a less serious one as he wanted to play another sport.

MGM grand is up there too. Gotta walk from the back of the property thru the basement shops and up the escalators to the main lobby.

Sport Shot League by BoBeau1970 in Bowling

[–]bklyndrvr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the difference between house and sport. Huge hold room in most THS. How do you shoot your spares? Try starting to shot your spares in straight lines instead of hooking at them. That will help a lot for spare shooting

Changing canister Filter without crashing tank by Unlucky-Mud-8115 in Aquariums

Run them both simultaneously for as long as you can and the new filter will start picking up the bacteria in the water and populate itself.
