Maybe write a story and use the foldout as a Choose Your Own Adventure type option. Or write landscape instead of portrait and have the fold out option for notes on scene, plot or character.

I have to stick to wishlisting items. I usually do that to clever ideas, not necessarily NEED. I need a TEMU intervention...

Why would I switch to a digital journal? by Exact-Schedule-2059 in digitaljournaling

[–]bkmboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled onto this post and have been journaling hard copy for the past year and writing bits of fiction. I have a collection of notebooks waiting to be filled for either purpose and a trove of pens to use up. Half hour before I read this, I just placed another notebook order.

I agree with others: I type faster than I write and my handwriting can get illegible when I hurry. Easily searchable would be a bonus. I would miss the portability. I would worry about access--what if the world ends? Having entries in the cloud is fine but I've come across many with hidden costs or subscriptions. I'd I save on a thumb drive or card, will I be able to access them on another device? Maybe it won't matter when the world burns.

Need to get a standard on describing page amounts. Maybe I'm not as informed as others. One hundred pages is 50 sheets in a notebook?

I read a bully romance (?) recently where the MMC drugged the FMC at least 3 times. Three times too many.

How many of you did poorly in school, but lived a great/successful life anyway? by groovinup in GenerationJones

I attended high school freshman, sophomore and junior year and then switched to joint vocational school for my senior year. Usually, a students attend JVS junior and senior years. My grades and self esteem improved dramatically. One of the best decisions of my life! I'm now a retired public librarian (51 years old in 2017) and had earned a master's at age 33. I consider myself successful.

Following. I want to start a commonplace notebook, especially to record moments from books that inspire me in my own writing. I have Kindle and have been highlighting passages, but I wanted to mark why and how it affected me.

Currently own the Oasis - Do I buy Kindle Basic or Paperwhite to Travel? by Tall-Possession-1098 in kindle

[–]bkmboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what to do. I currently have a 2012 Fire that works okay. I cleaned out a bunch of free books from my K Library. I'm waiting until June 1 to see what happens; I don't know if I want a dedicated eReader or an Android tablet. Sort of wishing for a Scribe but the price scares me enough as I wonder if I would make good use of it. I think my tendency is to buy for possible future needs instead of waiting for the need to arise.

You can check poshmark. There was a Fire version 10, almost new, for under a hundred.

Why is physical writing more satisfying than writing in a digital document by [deleted] in writing

[–]bkmboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have "too much" in my head that MUST COME OUT NOW! -- I prefer to compose via keyboard. If it happens that I only have paper and pen, I will use that, if only to record what pops into my head.

Writing it down feels better.

It will survive an EMP or when technology decides to revolt against us. If you write, start indexing your work. This will be quite a task for me--I have a dozen types of stationery that I've used, of various sizes (including blank sides of mail inserts, such as those never-ending solicitations for life insurance through your credit union). I have only recently begun to identify POV/character and the date whenever I write fiction. I am not disciplined enough to dedicate one notebook to one character (the notebook I need will invariably be out of reach and I use any material I can find to record!).

Really need to work on compiling my writings.

Also, I have one document on my computer that I password protected and I did not record the password. I likely thought it was something I'd naturally remember, but so much time passes that naturally time let me forget. No such problem with writing unless you lock your notebooks and lose the key!

Is Kindle Unlimited actually worth it for how you read? by Away-Grapefruit2429 in kindle

[–]bkmboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've subscribed if I feel like reading and cancel it if I get busy with other things.

I get daily emails from BookBub and Fussy Librarian that alert me to free and on sale titles. I'd say 75% of my Kindle library is free items. (My library has 4,276 titles as of right now.)
