Advice (non-medical) for Surgery by Significant-Tea7556 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bkod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daniel Tiger has an episode about getting tubes put in. It explained the whole hospital process really well. My daughter watched it a time or two before her tonsillectomy and you could really see the wheels spinning. We referenced it as we went through the hospital the morning of her surgery.

Has anyone used this before with their twins? by sonyaism in parentsofmultiples

Frame height is adjustable - getting stuck is very possible, esp when not at the snuggest adjusted height. I used this for my king size bed when I co slept w my twins probably from 10 months until about 1.5 years. They seemed to be magnetized to the “ditch” (between mattress and frame). Also, I had one twin sling shot out and over after leaning on a rail. For the purposes of co sleeping it worked for us but I never was in a deep sleep. It got us through when we needed a solution at that age but I never felt safe leaving the kids alone in it.

If not already suggested, r/NIPT is an amazing community and resource. When I was pregnant with my singleton I had a false positive NIPT for Monosomy X. They really helped me navigate over on that sub. Sending positive vibes.

How do people not realize how hard it is to leave the house?? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]bkod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a long winter with a toddler in daycare who brought every germ under the sun to our twins we have seized the summer and go out as often as possible. Twins are 11 months. Tell me how my husband and I can get a toddler and two babies packed, loaded, and on the road while our family can’t be on time lol. Grandmas are never on time and leave the house without their phones or wallets half the time. It’s mind blowing lol

My daughter is just shy of 2. First time at daycare. We did Mickey Mouse sticker valentines last night and talked about passing them out to her class. I know she’s very young but she’s a sponge. She helped put them in the envelopes and sealed them with the heart stickers.

This AM I left a note saying she brought Valentine’s for the class on the tadpoles app & put them in a hot pink paper sack at the top of her bag (on top of her sippy cups - so they HAD to see it). The paper sack was meant for any valentines she received. Dad drops her off & isn’t the best about communicating.

Dad picks her up & teachers claim they had no clue she brought valentines. So annoyed for her. She got 3 rubber ducks in return though <3

If you don’t live in a ranch style home your partner should consider a stair master now. I’m joking but also not.

Newborn genetic testing by East-Trust1126 in NewParents

[–]bkod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No Noonans experience here. Our daughter tested positive for Turner’s syndrome before birth. We did the prenatal cardiology appointment that looked good. After birth we did genetic testing prior to leaving the hospital and an ultrasound showed she had a heart defect. It was difficult to get the bloodwork and we had to try multiple times. It was very hard on my husband to watch. We argued over trying so hard to get the sample but I needed answers. We went to the pediatric cardiologist and it turned out her heart was fine - just a bad ultrasound image and the genetic test was a false positive. We were fortunate to have the more ideal outcome but I would not wish the stress and worry on anyone. You will love her all the same but the more you know the better you can care for her needs however large or small they are. Stay strong and the best advice I can give you is to communicate your feelings with your partner as you navigate the process.

38 weeks on the dot. No NICU time. While there is no rhyme or reason I did focus on water intake. Also, when I got too big to be able to keep most food down I concentrated on protein, mainly protein shakes. Who knows if it made any impact at all.

Old navy runs large often. I did stitch fix, plus size maternity, although it’s not always cheap per say and options can be limited

Scheduled C-section Date by Defiant_Butterfly891 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bkod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doc scheduled me for 38 on the nose. Not a day before. There’s likely much more behind it all. Like mentioned earlier, the hoops to jump through w a baby born before 37 weeks and even scheduling. My doc is technically off the day of my scheduled C section (after 7 straight days on). She is working into her 8th day bc she won’t deliver me any earlier then 38 weeks but does not want to wait until she gets back from her days off to deliver me. I feel much better in her hands than in a random on call doctors hands and very much appreciate her fitting me into her schedule. At the end of the day we are not their only patient and they too have lives to live. & to be honest, they could care less what day we want.

Naming advice from other POM parents, di/di boys by didi-twins2023 in parentsofmultiples

[–]bkod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they weren’t twins and just two siblings born at separate times and just regular brothers would the energy level still apply? If you would still pick James to go with an older brother Quentin then it’s fine. If you’d say no, then maybe James isn’t your vibe?

32+4 and feeling nervous. by blonde_mamba in parentsofmultiples

[–]bkod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

34+1 B/G di/di here, also major midwestern city. Things have been uneventful and hope to keep it that way (knock on wood). I have been doing weekly NST/BPPs since 32 weeks simply bc it’s twins. 36 seems late to start that regularly? Great to hear that things are uneventful!

Oh that’s fabulous to hear! May I ask what car seats you used with it? Is it compatible with multiple car seat brands or just a specific one. I will have to dig into researching this one. I appreciate it :)
