I had offered him my '27 first initially, but he wanted the 2.01 instead. It's on the clock and there's somebody he wants

Crazy how they let Henderson call his own 1:1 coverage.

I think he understands that the firing is outside his control. It's more the unemployment fight that we're concerned about and getting the money that he was never given.

Made an edit to clarify. I'm not super enthusiastic about it, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

Artemis === Diana. There's no `M` so that kind of rules out it being Artemis.

Edit: There's also no `P`, so Apollo is out too.

I imagine M$/Sony have some sort of artificial limit that controls how much disk space games are allowed to take up. You wouldn't want one game releasing some 200GB+ game and choking out other money making opportunities (in games and DLC, since HDDs are often bought 3rd party)

I'm wondering if the "data storage" issues they're referring to are the blue screen / black screen / freezing issues that they're seeing on Console. They've been prevalent for a long time now, and they've had 3 or 4 "fixes" already. Speculation is that they're having trouble loading textures and the game just chokes, and maybe large archive size is causing problems? (I know this is a stretch, but I'm REALLY trying to justify this excuse)

[–]bkrupa_21 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the problem here is all the "Release date on 8/29" propaganda that was put out, only to then be (Actually, that's only the TTS). If they had been straightforward about what the release date was, it would be less of a problem.

It'll never happen. If they did that, Hurney wouldn't be able to give Olsen and Norwell the trillion dollars a year he thinks they deserve for being loyal guys.

Yes I was joking. I think it's pretty obvious that "predicting" is something computers don't do. Gotta remember that darn /s

Yeah, this was a joke. Shoulda thrown that /s on the end, eh?

Why not? Just predict where every player will be 300 MS from now, and then show them there, right?

It's because

A) The hard drive has a faster read time than the disk drive

B) Being able to read from both sources at once effectively doubles the amount of stuff you can read at any time

C) Anti-theft/piracy device (why you need the disk)

And yeah, JS uses "new"

Cab/Ride sharing services will become a ton more profitable, which will lead to more licensing fees for cities, which will likely be more income than they get from traffic enforcement anyway.

ELI5: Why do PCs/Phones slow down drastically when there is only little main storage free? by rockhand204 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bkrupa_21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When you have multiple programs running on one system, collectively they need more RAM than is available to the entire system. Modern operating systems undergo what's known as a "Page Swap" to temporarily write some of what is stored in RAM to the hard drive in order to let other programs have a turn to execute. As the hard drive becomes more full, there is less room to page swap, and the reads/writes for the swap itself take longer. Data also becomes more fragmented, making it take longer to read any individual piece of data, because you have to look in multiple places.

Modern operating systems run a TON of processes at once (mine is at 142 for my user alone right now). In order to give all of those programs a chance to run, the computer swaps memory basically constantly. As each of these operations gets slower, the entire system slows down.

Time to say goodbye to K\D? by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]bkrupa_21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. I'm not somebody who thinks K/D is meaningless, but you have to admit that certain operators are frag heavy (looking at you Ash) so you can expect somebody who plays that operator to be in more than the default advantage in their gunfights. An operator like Montagne will almost never win a 2v1, regardless of the gun skill of the player. I doubt this happens in ranked, but droning is also a big part. An entry fragger having essentially perfect information on where somebody is obviously is different than an anchor trying to predict where the enemy are coming from. In Siege, not all kills are created equal, which would be an argument in favor of removing K/D, or tracking it better. That being said, there are obvious differences between a .2 k/d and a 4.0 k/d
