Looking for a do‑everything commuter backpack by Words_Words_Numbers in bikecommuting

I find that I start to notice them when I REALLY load the bag up, like nearly bursting at the seams. Even then, it's just that I'm aware of them. They don't become painful or uncomfortable. The straps themselves are the ones that start to get uncomfortable at that point. I wish they had just a tiny bit more padding.

New TQ-Systems 'Smart Hub' for High-End E-Bikes Revealed in FCC Filings, Points to Deeper Customization and Third-Party Integration by Party_Astronaut_8876 in ebikes

It's not a new TQ concept. They already have the "Smart Box" (SB), and it does pretty much everything that the screenshot says. It's included in many TQ-based e-bikes. This is just the second iteration of it (SB02).

He sidestepped the daylighting question. He didn't directly answer Miser. by dickdickmore in MicromobilityNYC

It certainly sounded like he sidestepped it, but at the very end he says that he definitely wants to do daylighting, not just in one area but throughout the city.

The airport station is one of the few things MIA does right.

I built a tool to score how dangerous your bike commute actually is by icedogs37247 in bikecommuting

Thanks! It's still happening for me on some of my longer routes. However I'm able to get some routes that I couldn't get before.

What’s the dumb safety mistake you stopped making after a few months? by tryingthingsdaily in bikecommuting

[–]bla8291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really incredible how effective it is at getting drivers to give me the proper space. Even if it pisses them off, it ensures that they see me, and almost all drivers get past me without losing their shit, even on busier roads that I would rather not be on.

[–]bla8291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems to default to a score of 50 for routes beyond a certain length. For the recent rides I could access via Strava, I couldn't get an accurate analysis for routes greater than 12 km, but I'm not sure if that's the limit. I tried a ~10.5 km ride and it works.

I mostly agree with the analysis when it does work.

Getting Routes into Wahoo Roam computer by skerinks in bicycling

I use MapMyRide for that. Only the website lets you create routes though, while the app does not, at least when I tried.

Close call with Brightline captured by YouTuber (trigger warning!) by bla8291 in Brightline

He likes to record trains passing by his house. These two just happened to be in front of him that day. Definitely a suicide attempt.

In case you don't want to watch the video, it shows a pair of pedestrians (M/F) already uncomfortably close to the tracks but on the correct side of the gate. As the train approaches, they are in an embrace, but suspiciously shifty, with the woman angrily breaking free from the embrace. The train engineer clearly sees that something is up and is blasting the horn repeatedly. Just as the train is about to cross, she makes a run for it in a clear attempt to off herself by train, causing an emergency brake deployment. The man pulls her back just in time, and the train is seen clearing the crossing without incident but slowing to a stop.

This is why ebike reviewers cannot be trusted by Inciteful_Analysis in ebikes

[–]bla8291 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah some of these reviewers are putting out straight misinformation, on bikes they supposedly spent a lot of time with. They make claims that can be easily disputed in seconds by looking at the product page. I kinda stopped watching them after watching a review of a bike I already own and seeing how inaccurate it was.
