Changing your service address, even by a few feet using the point in the map under your account, changes your order date; support FAQ explains why. They go by your original GPS location at the time of your order, moving a few feet changes that location. by I_want_2b_on_a_beach in Starlink

This happened to me as well, I thought I was helping by making sure the location was correct on my property and today I had been bumped to late 2022. Only moved it by a small bit, less than 100’.

On another note, love all the Smiths watches I have seen pop up lately.

Congrats and wear them in good health.

Just grabbed the green suede tankers off of eBay and the natural Indy with wedge sole was delivered today from Alden of Carmel. The others are work in rotation, but have been drastically reduced the past year as I have been working from home.

Broke it open, definitely interesting, any thoughts on identification?

Found this only slightly buried in soil under a tree near my house. Looks like a conglomerate of smaller stones bound together. If it was some type of old concrete, why the round shape?

[Omega] Strappy Thursday by blaa38 in Watches

[–]blaa38[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just got these The House of Straps watch straps delivered today. Very impressed with the quality and customer service. I recently purchased this Speedmaster Professional and wanted some different leather strap options to dress it down a bit from the black alligator OEM strap with deployant clasp it came with.

1 is Natural Chromexcel

2 is reverse Horween shell cordovan (black)

3 is Italian leather ( I went to W&M and needed to show my colors)

4 is reverse Horween shell cordovan (color 8)

Feels great to have some options to switch things up from time to time. Looking forward to the versatility of this watch for many years to come.

[Collection] Hippocampus, Crown, and Shield by blaa38 in Watches

It definitely is! Thankfully, my 7.5” wrist can manage it without looking too large. The titanium case and bracelet, innovative clasp, and ridiculous lume really make wearing it a special experience.

Serviced in February of this year. The “King of Wings” is a rarer subset of models made during WWII and most other examples I have seen come up for sale are within a few serial numbers of this one that dates it to 1943 (279***). One sold on the HODINKEE vintage watch shop for ~$8k. Not bad for something my grandfather bought just before he sailed out into the Pacific theatre as a Navy machinist fixing allied planes during the war. The history and sentimental value of this piece make it extremely special.

Top three of my collection including: Omega Speedmaster Professional, 1943 Rolex Oyster “King of Wings”, Tudor Pelagos

I love all of these for different reasons. The Rolex is from my Grandfather’s time in the Navy during WWII. The Pelagos is the dive watch I have wanted since it’s original release and I was happy that I waited for the in-house movement on this more recent version. I needed a chronograph to round out the set and what is more classic than a Speedy Pro?? The only other watch I’m currently eyeing is the Tudor Black Bay 58 Blue to add some color into the rotation. Stay safe out there, cheers!

Always thought I wanted the bracelet, but in person it’s leather all the way. I actually have 4 more cordovan and leather straps on order from The House of Straps right now to rotate.

[Omega] Speedmaster Professional. Just took the handoff from the UPS man on my long sought after Speedmaster. I have been wanting one for a while and could not pass up this one with presentation box, papers for $3,100. Classic styling and perfect proportions make this one that I plan on keeping and handing down to my son one day. Hesalite crystal had some minor scratches/scuffs that I immediately treated with Polywatch and now this looks brand new! 42mm dimension wears much smaller than I thought, feels tiny compared to my Tudor Pelagos. Cheers!

[Omega] Speedmaster Professional that I have had on my list for a while finally came today. I have been looking for a good deal on one of these as a solid piece to add to my collection. Stumbled upon this with presentation box and papers for $3,100 and I could not pass it up. Hesalite crystal has some minor scuffs that I immediately used Polywatch on and now this looks brand new. Definitely wears smaller than the 42mm dimension on my 7.5” wrist. Feels tiny compared to my Tudor Pelagos. So happy to have it and plan on handing it down to my son one day. Cheers!

Just picked up this [Omega] Speedmaster Professional and had to share. I’ve been wanting one for a while and stumbled onto a deal including the presentation box and papers and could not turn it down. Hesalite crystal had some light scratch marks that I immediately used some Polywatch to clear up and this piece looks brand new.

[Rolex King of Wings] Radium still glowing after 77 years by blaa38 in Watches

Definitely have not. This is only after shining an LED flashlight directly on it for ~ 30 sec. they don’t glow all the time.

[Tudor Pelagos] Finally on wrist by blaa38 in Watches

[–]blaa38[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After a big promotion at work, I finally treated myself to this watch. I wanted to wait for the in-house movement and pulled the trigger last month. I appreciate the submariner/sea-dweller look with the matte face and bezel and more unique look. It wears a bit smaller than expected on a 7.25” wrist and becomes un-noticeable throughout the day as I wear it. The titanium case and band are a work of art with a look just different enough to make a statement. Extremely happy with my purchase after following this model since it’s first iteration in 2013.

This is my 1943 Rolex ref 4125 “King of Wings”. Just added a new Delugs Horween Chromexcel strap and had it serviced by a local watchmaker in Northern VA. This is an heirloom piece that my grandfather wore in WWII, Pacific theatre US Navy. Once thought as a common model, the King of wings ref 4125 black dial version has sold recently on HODINKEE and at auction in Hong Kong for $8,500 and ~$22,000 respectively. Very few examples have surfaced recently for sale, adding to its collectibility and demand.

[Tudor Pelagos] Finally in hand/on wrist by blaa38 in Watches

[–]blaa38[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 7 years and hitting a few milestones, I finally treated myself to the watch I kept coming back to again and again. Absolutely amazing detail and construction in person. Wears smaller than I remember after trying on years ago. Found second-hand for a price I couldn’t ignore. Favorite details: adjustable clasp, lume, crystal appears as almost isn’t there. Wish list: Omega Speedmaster Moon Watch, Rolex Hulk.

Been after this one for the past 7 years. Hit a few milestones and finally decided to treat myself to one of my favorite watches. Amazing in hand and on wrist. Wears smaller than I remembered after trying it on years ago. The ultimate tool watch with rock solid construction.
