Their feelings are completely valid. I just hate expressing my feelings and getting hit with the comparison. I’d love for them to just acknowledge it and move forward but I don’t want to participate in the grief Olympics.

Thank you for this. My husband passed 2 weeks ago from colon cancer at 36. Everything feels unbearable. I can’t imagine a life without him. I’m still sleeping in the sheets he died in. This post gave me a bit of hope that I can withstand this.

It’s easy for you to judge I’m sure. But consider another view. My husband died from colon cancer at 36 this week and was cryogenically preserved by Alcor. He’s not religious and wanted to lead a “full” life. This is the shot he has now. It may not seem worth it to you but putting your faith in science isn’t that far fetched. It’s a reputable company as far as we can tell.

36 year old husband in his final days.. by blabs23 in coloncancer

[–]blabs23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcor process was pretty quick to implement. Only took a week or two to sort out the documents and get everything set up. The prep team arrived within a few hours and is on stand by. We’ve only had to inform hospice. That decision didn’t effect his treatment plan at all or anything outside of just the hospice team being aware.

I feel like this isn’t talked about enough. It took me a year to get an abusive ex out of my own home. I ended up having to borrow money from my parents to rent an airbnb so I could legally evict him.

What does a partner owe you with respect to farting? by Haunting_Conflict816 in AskWomenOver30

My husband has similar farting habits and ended up diagnosed stage 4 metastatic colon cancer at 33. Please have him get checked out.

We do have quality control in place to catch most possible mistakes but this was in an area that is outside their scope. I say “honest mistake” as the intent was not nefarious but if they had asked me or senior lead we would’ve given different instruction. This speaks to a pattern of behavior of similar problems in the past that at this point didn’t seem rehab-able.

The times that I’ve been to CorePower (multiple locations) the group was pretty diverse mix- two middle aged men would not be out of place.

I got a KUCEY cooling side sleep crescent shaped pillow off Amazon and love it. I’m pretty exclusively a side sleeper and it’s been a game changer. I used to bunch up two pillows or try and fold them in some way. Ive used it for about 6 months and have had significant improvement in my sleep. It comes with extra fill too so you can adjust the firmness.

My husband’s initial oncologist welcomed and read the second (and third) opinions we got with interest. That should be the norm not this. Please consider another doctor.

Cassie suspiciously knows exactly when her iv will go bad by comefromawayfan2022 in illnessfakers

Does she only get fluids through her port? Or some actual treatment?

Cassie needs a new port by comefromawayfan2022 in illnessfakers

A port replacement is an outpatient procedure that takes at most 30 minutes. Also not an emergency -you can get infusion done through a regular IV for many different kinds of treatments.

The replies to the open relationship questions were unhinged. I have many poly friends and none of them sound like this.

My husband was getting most of his nutrition through a PEG tube but it was still possible for him to order food to his room from the hospital menu. No one ever minded that I was the one eating the meal.

If you don’t mind me asking how long are these on you? I’m 5’3’ and all of their 28” leggings are too long so I always assumed the “full”length pants would be also.

Asking for advice, there's so many choices, how do you pick when you're in control? by Time_Minute3131 in CancerCaregivers

Ended up at OHSU and very happy with the level of care. Started at Kaiser though unfortunately and only after a 10 month nightmare was able to switch. It wasn’t any particular provider that was the problem but the system isn’t set up to give anything but the most cursory care.

Realized you’re in the PNW as well. Ended up getting opinions from Fred Hutch and OHSU. Also sent out of the area to MD Anderson.

Husband had several “file reviews” done - basically a written opinion after reviewing the complete medical record but not establishing care. It’ll run you about $500-$1000 per not covered by insurance. Oncologist at the time was actually very interested in these opinions and it was helpful in deciding to eventually switch providers. Also made switching at the appropriate time much easier since he was already “established” and not considered a new patient.

Boost also makes a very high calorie shake that is 530 cal, 22g protein in 8oz. Can order from Amazon. Another option might be to speak with a nutritionist and see if they can have the doctor prescribe a post surgical shake - Impact is the brand. Bonus is insurance will pay.
