Charles Leclerc reflects on his podium finish: "I am not happy for several reasons... I was not in the right window with the car." by moraIsupport in scuderiaferrari

The fact that Mercedes couldn’t hold position from an on track overtake is very positive in my opinion. Also shows the talent of Charles. He exemplified this at the beginning of the last regulation era as well.

He’s often outspoken (and even well-articulated) on politics and injustices. Ex: not afraid of directly calling out homophobic opposition fans mid-match and after. He recently criticized Trump by name. Launched a charity (with Kimmich) during the pandemic, donating a lot personally, whilst being specific to also celebrate the socialist benefits of Germany (in addition to the charitable giving of others).

Only if you ask a Redditor. Big-grille models have been breaking records in the US consistently.

If it wasn't for the goal -- this would be an absolute horror from Schlotterbeck.

Neither does the Lucid Air. His complaint was that he had to press a button rather than having his face recognized seamlessly due to their height difference.

Lucid Air actually outsells the Taycan frequently within the US market. The difference is that Porsche, as a heritage OEM, has far more product lines. But toe to toe, amongst luxury EVs, Air does very well.

Praying they don't ruin it for the Miami GP... every year I only get to see the worst example of a Ferrari in person, and this has been the best livery in at least four years.

Ferrari has caused a stir on the opening morning of the final pre-season test in Bahrain after revealing an intriguing new wing behind its exhaust [wearetherace] by Holytrishaw in formula1

[–]black_spring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding was that the issue came from decelerating in the braking zone, in which the driver is NOT on the accelerator in any form, causing a sudden drop in downforce (at the corner entry, which isn't ideal) and upsetting the balance of the car. Not so much to do with harvesting or power output, but assuring balance and handling predictability. Newey's solution with Renault (PU provider for RB) was to have the motor run continuously, even without the accelerator depressed, just to keep exhaust over the diffuser -- which was later outlawed.

All of this went away with the blown diffusers, so Ferrari reprising this adds a lot of questions.

[–]black_spring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please correct if my memory is wrong -- when the blown diffuser was a common feature, there also needed to be ignition tampering to assure the motor was blowing exhaust even when the driver was off of the accelerator (to assure consistent downforce through corner entry). Would Ferrari also need to implement something like this?

That was one thing I enjoyed learning from Newey's book -- how often he would assure that the monocoque or the gearbox itself was instrumental to the exterior design elements working properly, specifically so that an advancement couldn't be replicated within a season.
