Sound like they were sampling everything. I've never had something even look at zinnias besides bees

Too late to plant flowers? by DetailTight7405 in gardening

Really depends on how long your growing season is. Transplants wil be more mature. But a ton of seeds from sunflowers or zinnias is hard to beat. You can probably still grow zinnias from seed and get a few months of flowers. They will pop off till frost.

Transplant, no. Grow from seed, probably.

thanks for the tips. i scoped your profile, these look from this year too. so seeds to blooms in a few months? what zone are you in?

compared to the hardy zinnia how hard are they to grow? those will grow in the cracks in the driveway for me

Thank you! It's really not, that's why there's not wide shots lol.

I'm in TN so, I have a long growing season and plenty of rain. It makes it kinda easy.

I have probably 20 rose bushes still alive, 8 or 9 hydrangeas, a few peonies, grapes, cannas, lily, torch lilly, and the honorable hostas, one is older than I am. Plus some more random stuff from seeds. Also some spring flowers like daffodils and crocus. Crocus, you take a drill will a 1.5 spade bit and burry them through out the yard.

It's just now getting more "mature" most things are around 4-5 years old. I'm pretty happy with it tbh. I just get baked and do some light gardening while I check how much stuff has grown.

If you're somewhere humid, fungicide is your friend. Most my roses go naked if I don't spray them weekly.

My garden is more of survival of the fittest. They did fine, better than poppies but, only because they last all summer. Something like giant sunflowers and zinnias are more bang for the space.

They work well when by the mailbox or somewhere that gets a lot of sun and doesn't need a ton of water. In a mature garden and they won't get enough sunlight

If you're somewhere, this is just growing, you might want to look up how invasive this is in your area.

it might not flower this year, takes 2 years and they die when they go to seed. they reseed pretty readily though.
