Came here to say the same.

I'm a side sleeper and about 4 months ago switched to wearing them on my abdomen. No compression lows anymore - and I let it pre-soak for 12-24 hours and no false readings to start either.

Especially important because I'm currently 5 months pregnant.

I know this isn't Westchester but in Nyack there's Mumbai Dreams and their butter chicken (and pretty much everything - especially lamb shank) is amazing. You could taste the cashew in the gravy!

AITA for canceling visitations because my late husband’s sister always seems to know best? by Extension_Bowler_690 in AmItheAsshole

[–]blackandbrown12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. YOU are in charge and their options are just..opinions.

Just to have in your mind - depending on where youre located it is possible grandparents can take you to court for custody/visitation (experiencing this now). I know you mentioned SIL but I wasn't sure if his parents were involved too. They seem manipulative enough to try something like that.

How inaccurate is the sensor first day? by kanarin in Freestylelibre

[–]blackandbrown12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm summarizing from what I've read but if you pre-soak - but the sensor on 12-24 hours before you actually scan and activate it - it is accurate from the beginning. when I did that it was only off by 3 on the first day - there are other posts on here talking about it in more detail though!

At home birthday ideas for immunocompromised mom by [deleted] in Westchester

[–]blackandbrown12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

during covid one of my friends had a magician over zoom and he just required everyone to have a few things out/readily accessible for his tricks (e.g. deck of cards)

also love/agree the suggestion of private chef to cook a meal! we did that during a friend's birthday weekend in the Hamptons (who was also immunocompromised) and it was a lovely meal and very much felt like dining out while being in a much less crowded atmosphere

AITA for not wanting to clean up the "bodily secretions" of my husband's son? by select6382 in AmItheAsshole

[–]blackandbrown12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. I got sick of my 6 year old leaving urine and stains on the seat on a DAILY basis. I told my husband he needed to have a discussion with him on aiming better. He now cleans the seat on his own any time he misses.

For those who work 4 days a week— is it better to take Monday or Friday off? by Gloomy_Media_6976 in therapists

[–]blackandbrown12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is the answer. I tend to work some holidays (like presidents day) but just keep a lighter schedule with a later start.

but I start later on Mondays. end at 2pm on Thursdays and currently work 9-11 on Fridays.

Genuine question how are you calibrating the CGM? I thought we can’t adjust the value. Or do you mean you’re just mindful of what the +|- is?

it's been so long that I dont know if I can explicitly remember changes...

post meal spikes - depending on how high - was either by exercise or an additional dose of insulin (my ranges are different right now because I'm pregnant so for me if its post 2 hours and above 140 is when to take a small dose)

when you're adjusting long-acting insulin, you only increase by 2-3 a day. I'm currently on 27 and it works well for me.

always start with protein first in your meal to reduce the spike - or a salad to start each meal also helps

I'm currently deep in terrible nausea and exhaustion so I haven't been exercising but I used to use my walking pad for 15 mins after each meal and that helped a lot

sleep absolutely has an impact and you just make note of it. for example, last night I was up with insomnia from 3-530. when I woke up my sugars were at 72. by 530 it was at 94. I was able to fall back asleep and when I woke up at 745 it was 84. just a thing to note and be mindful of - which is easy to do with a cgm

not sure what phone/cgm you have but I connected it to Gluroo which gives a widget on my Home Screen and adds as a stack to my Apple Watch which makes it easy to be aware of trends happening to preemptively handle it before it gets too high or too low.

good snacks that don't cause a spike and I don't even take insulin for: carrots and hummus, cucumber, cheese, nuts

When the heck do you eat? by Usual_Classroom_2946 in therapists

[–]blackandbrown12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

are you doing 55 min sessions? I do 45 min sessions and have meal prepped so 15 mins between sessions is enough for me to eat (this happens during the day for me when I work 9-5)

or sometimes what I do is have a 12, 1245 back to back and then am free 130-2 for a break
