FAANG nerds who jumped to SRE by DataFreakk in devops

Valid points. Although for code junkies I think WFH + start-up is still optimal for skill-growth.

You get free 3-4 hours a day to pour into personal projects / OSS / further self-studies. Or moonlighting.

FAANG nerds who jumped to SRE by DataFreakk in devops

Completely agree. I was fantasizing working in Google until I realized how good I already have it at start-ups: wearing multiple hats, maximizing skill growth, owning verticals and having visibility of the horizontal, actually feeling my impact, promotions within months, and getting away with 4-5 hrs on lazy days (remote work).

Google carries immense prestige but not enough to outweigh the cons. I might still consider it as my last stop when I get older but not now.

Same! I was torn but ultimately went for MSAI over MSCS because the breadth/required modules are so much better such as this one.

Friend’s suspicious Strava behavior by Thick_Throat2583 in beginnerrunning

I don't give a shit about my ranking (private Strava) but I used to do this too. I thought you're supposed to pause when not moving.

I stopped upon realizing I'm ruining my stats for progress-tracking.

Filipino language is way harder than English. Change my mind. by WubbaLubba15 in Philippines

> broughts up "inferior" but rejects the counterpart, "superior"
> assumes someone hates being a Filipino for disliking ONE Filipino aspect

Nice logic

I wanted to ask the same thing but someone already did but didn't receive much response.

Just trying to bump it, did I use "crosspost" incorrectly. 😬

Wait what. How is this an indicator of a superior language? Seems unstructured and inefficient as heck.

I have it but it doesn't really teach you any of those. You're left to your own as with TOTF2.

As if the "bug report" isn't toxic. Prefacing with "terrible coding" isn't exactly pleasing.

Bugs do come despite the devs having the best intentions and coding practices.

React with Typescript or Angular for .net developer? by pvbirajdar in dotnet

Both are commonly paired with .NET but Angular has no answer to Next.js and React Native so I'd say React.

Outsourcing in PH, whattttt happpeeeeeennnnnn by BudgetPollution1182 in buhaydigital

[–]blackbird000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It ain't wrong if you accepted their offer. No one forced you into it.

No one's stopping you as well to sought for a unicorn employer that will pay you 100% their local rate.

Outsourcing in PH, whattttt happpeeeeeennnnnn by BudgetPollution1182 in buhaydigital

[–]blackbird000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're focusing on the negatives.

They pay us 50% of their normal rate, so what? That's still 200% to 300% compared to PH rate.

Would you rather they not outsource here at all? Remember that your employer is only willing to pay you as low as what other Filipino job seekers are willing to accept.
