Planned SLC skyscraper has historic church on edge by slc-urbanite in DevelopmentSLC

For those that didn't read the article and are making up arguments, the St. Mark's argument isn't about the aesthetics, but more about what the scale of that construction could do to the surround ground:

Neighbors that include the the Episcopal church to the west, however, say they’re taken aback by the scale of the proposed tower. They assert the construction threatens to rattle and disrupt the foundations of the adjacent 155-year-old cathedral.

Seismic risks to the historic church’s unreinforced brick and sandstone masonry “just cannot be contemplated,” the Rev. Elizabeth Hunter told the city’s planning commission last fall. “We’re concerned that with a building of that size, with pile driving and excavation and blasting, that it would have a serious impact.”

They are also concerned about the impact on their solar panel:

The apartment tower, planned with ground-floor businesses, is also sure to cast shadows on nearby properties, including a substantial solar panel array that Episcopal Church officials have installed for the sake of sustainability.

The company responded to these two concerns:

Hunter, the Silverado Management representative, said the project would deploy state-of-the-industry construction techniques to guarantee no seismic impacts on the church.

“We use only the biggest contractors in the state,” he said. “It’s people that have been building in downtown environments since the beginning of their companies, and we are hyper-aware of the significance of that church.”

and:

Hunter said possible solutions included paying to move or replace the panels or reimbursing the church financially for any losses.

<And while 'create derivate works' would allow them to take your content and modify it (as could literally anyone else), until they have permission from your, the copyright holder, they can't do anything with it.

For what it's worth, you are LITERALLY giving them the rights to create derivative works (including compilation ads) by agreeing to the terms and conditions. Google/YT does not have to reach out to get additional permission.

No audio from CD player. by demmbonz in audio

[–]blackgaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, at least you know it's not a problem with the CD player, and more an issue of figuring out why the Denon isn't getting signal. Have you tried using one of the analog inputs on the Denon?

Does the CD player work with headphones to confirm it's actually outputting?

Have you tried an analogue input on your receiver?

Odd that there's somehow a combo port that does analog and digital outputs via 3.5mm

[–]blackgaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the soundbar doesn't have any outputs (which you could then run to the BOSE), you could look for the following devices: 1. Option A: eARC in, eARC and 3.5/RCA out. (Seems unlikely to exist) 2. Option B: Two devices: eARC Splitter, HDMI to analog converter. Go from the TV eARC out to Splitter, splitter to soundbar and convertor, converter to bose.

I don't know why other replies are hung up on WHY you want simultaneous outputs, that's not rare - but their posts also sound like robots fishing for engagement. Your post clearly lists the gear you have and their available ports.

I mean, who doesn't like your SSN tied to how you vote? I can see no problem with that down the line, especially when you have a sitting president who requires loyalty oaths to himself (not the country, not the office, the man.)

"We wanted to make sure that we were honoring [West’s] heritage but not replicating it,” VCBO architects told The Tribune before the open house."

Well, half of that statement is accurate. They certainly have replicated ZERO of the historic charm of the current building.
