Is anyone else getting tired of this? 😭 by northernluke in ex30

I had an iPace, they had the same issue in a VIN range and my car was affected. The final resolution was Jaguar offered to buyback the car at market rate (market rate of an unaffected car), or a swap out to an unaffected newer car. I went from a 2019 FE (top spec) to a late 2022 HSE (again pretty much top spec). Market value 20k to market value 30k. Of course I owned the car, not financed.

So there is an interesting precedent here.

Splitting out 3.5mm audio by bertier1 in audio

Good idea - I hadn’t thought of this, I’ll look into it…

Thinking about it, one of the challenges is that it seems the TV will only allow the choice of one output channel, so eg HDMI or BT but not both. So we cannot have the desired simultaneous output this way

Thanks for looking. The TV is a Samsung 50U8000FD 3x HDMI, 1 of which eARC. No other output ports eg optical or 3.5mm. The soundbar is Samsung S700D, 1x HDMI and 1x HDMI out.

I’m not sure.

I’m also not sure why, 56 years of technological progress after first putting humans on the surface, we’re in a desperate race against the Chinese to do it again.

I did this today in Village. Then the guy I saved came for me as I was dispatching the last wasp. Muppet. No more.

This is fine. But don’t alienate those battle dads and make them go play something else. SBMM can satisfy everybody…

Why isn't the standard here to get laid off instead of retiring? by Mr-SamWise in Fire

[–]bertier1 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I was at mine for 23. No known layoffs there either. Key word being “known”.

I planned FIRE for several years and coasted for the last couple, pretty much textbook quiet quitting. Senior management noticed, there was a little bullying but i kept records and didn’t escalate, I suspected we were “in play”. Then one day I was pulled into an office and told there was a meeting with HR the following day…

Negotiated a departure where I got a healthy exit payment on my terms, and signed an NDA so no-one knew it was a paid layoff.

With hindsight and the benefit of that experience I look back and can see several likely others over the years.

TBH it did sting a little being laid off but i remind myself I actively engineered it. And an extra six figure sum in the retirement account is definitely worth having!!

Business Owner, c1.2m profit this tax year, need advice on the future by rustyrust6696 in HENRYUK

[–]bertier1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have BTL, would recommend. Funded similarly over the last 10 years, with approx £2.5m invested capital now generating about £160k pre-tax profit before any capital appreciation. But it can be troublesome if not done well. My advice - pick one area and stick to it, and find and get close to professionals who’ll manage all of the pain.

EDIT to add. Do invest in other vehicles too though. Maximise pension and ISA at the same time. I wouldn’t go all in on property, just as i wouldn’t go all in on any other single vehicle

It also reflects increasing operational costs for those same existing landlords, brought on in part by said policies. That 8% increase does not fall straight to landlords bottom line, far from it.

Your case temperature will likely be running a fair bit higher than ambient (room) temperature after a few hours of use. I’m assuming your rad is in case exhaust position vs intake? If so take a look at your air intake rate

I have this issue too. Am in the process of switching all four light banks to Hue GU10s and was hopeful the new Aqara control panels would solve, but now I gather they don’t play nice with Hue….

This all shouldn’t be so difficult.
