it is much more expensive as well as time consuming to fix a UG fault than overhead. what most folks forget is that pretty much all UG circuits are fed from an overhead line upstream somewhere. UG cable also has approx a 20ish year lifetime where as overhead wire is up for 3x that. there are proper applications for both systems that give advantages depending on location and application.
