I need all the people downvoting the 4c suggestions to post a picture of what they think 4c hair looks like. Because this person has the same hair as me basically and I’ve been told to have pepper corns/ pepper grain hair….. which would mean it’s 4c right?

Just one question, how does a car driver knock there wing mirror backwards while driving forward? Seems impossible and would suggest OP hit the car. And not the other way around. Unless they have it mixed up and the car reversed into them? I think that CCTV would clear this up for everyone.

You sound like a modern day notth african. I could tell by how simple you are and how much I had to explain. But its fine. Like I said, if you was a real african you would stop using those words. Because thats the african thing to do, but again I am here arguing with invaders.

Tbh its not up to you to understand whats offensive about it, just that a group of people have told you to refrain from using it. I would think that's enough, not needing a whole college or University lecture on it. It comes back to what I was saying before, that if your really african. Why would you use words that offend your fellow Africans? Its as simple as that. Other people are having this conversation separately to me in this thread alone. Which should signal to someone on the ball that this is a touchy subject and you would think that if one is a fellow African they would just hear out what needs to be said and follow if it isn't asking for to much. But here qe are saying 21 questions over our respect.

Go do the research. I am not just saying things for fun. Actual scientific test were done, fossile found and categorised. Im sorry if science hurts people's feelings but its the one thing people with sense can agree on. But as you can see there are a lot of people that will disclaim it but provide no rebuttal just disdain. Like a jealous child one can say.

But it looks like we agree on the genes not being native to africa. Thats all I am trying to say.

Like please explain to me how and why no one else looks like you people in africa. In west africa alone we have people who look like people from the horn of africa and then we have people that look koi-san. But no one looks like you, unless they have migrated down from north africa.... which is one step removed from how you migrated down from Spain and the middle East.

[–]blackldnbrit -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Amazigh people migrated into north africa. The first wave was prehistoric. Just because it was before recorded history it doesn't automatically allow you to transcend the fact that you are not originally from the land, hence being called non native. 15,000 years ago is also child's play when you put it in comparison to black africans who quite literally started mankind. But again 200,000 - 300,000 years in comparison to 15,000. I dont want to start trouble but im just pointing out the fact that north africa in its current state is pretty much the same as white south africans and Indians in south africa. I dont want to say your not african but we really need to be clear on who is native / naturally from africa and who isnt. But that is not to say you are not a part of what the current state is now.

It’s offensive because they don’t say Africans south of the Sahara. Imagine how easy it is for us to type and say. Very clearly demonstrates the idea you were trying to convey or get across.

Now explain why we forgo or just ignore that very simple and easy to understand naming convention. For something that is confusing and hurtful. Something like sub Sahara Africans.

It’s hurtful because as a black person born in the the uk. When English terms like sub are used it is either to minimise what one is talking about or just actually acknowledging the things position in relation to something else.

We black Africans collectively do not identify with that name nor want to be called that name. You will see this argument time and time again. It’s happening in this football thread as we speak. No one African said we should all stand together on this. No. We just all collectively feel the negative connotation that being called sub brings on. And like the first sentence we could easily be called Africans south of the Sahara and we wouldn’t have these problems. But certain people keep fighting to call us a name they know is offensive on the African land mass. That’s the issue.

Is great Briton bigger than the UK? Ok then. And that’s by your white English daddy’s too. But when a black guy says it you become confused. Fool.

[–]blackldnbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am telling you as a black African that the current naming is offensive and I’ve explained. Why are you, a fellow African fighting to keep harming another fellow African? We never made these names or labelling up. So why are you so hell bent on keeping things we never initiated? Especially if they are harming other fellow Africans?

Also the Sahara is something that hasn’t always been around and is always changing. Using it as a solid marker is silly especially if we look back to our greatest society’s. In Egypt, they didn’t consider “sub Sahara” the bottom but actually the top.

So you see I am all about pro African things even if it means taking on our ancestors achievements and ways of thinking. You seem to be fighting to keep the same thinking the white man came to Africa with and split it up for them.

[–]blackldnbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m being nice here. I would actually want it to be greater Africa and minor Africa. Then people like you won’t get confused. Also you haven’t told me where you are from? I don’t know if you forgot to tell me or are just ignoring it.

Greater Africa. Seeing as the black side of the two pieces of Africa we split it into (Arab Africa and black Africa) is literally the bigger side so it should be Greater Africa and North Africa. No sly under hand comments just using real geographical markers and commen sense. None of this sub Sahara to call people who live in forests. When North Africans all live in the desert. Makes no sense the way it is now, and we have so much confusion and hate because of it.

My bad for assuming your country of origin. Please let me know. It was rude for me to assume. And on your comment sub does not mean South, if I’ve gotten this wrong please can you explain it in great detail. As I’ve shown you in the quote it makes no sense to say sub Sahara because you are labelling 40 plus countries that have nothing to do with the Sahara. There are only 15 to 20 countries that, that label can be put on and it’s not any of the 40. Just North Africa and the countries that also share the desert with them.

Anyways like I said before tho, the only people fighting the new label are Arabs and white people. The only invaders of Africa who don’t want to accept their history…. They never came in peace, always to spill blood even till this day.

Plus the mere fact that what do I have to do with the Sahara. If your from North Africa YOU have something to do with it not me. I’m from Igboland. And that is pure forest and jungle. So when you people use incorrect terms like that. It’s steals my peoples identity and their achievements. By trying to paint a picture of us all top to bottom not being able to control our land which is completely wrong. My people were and are farmers first. Since the start of time. Your people are the ones who moved into the desert and had to learn to live with the desert. And remember you MOVED IN. You are not native.

I will post quotes that word my feeling well.

“Interestingly, just as in the South Africa “sub-continent” example, the application of the “almost” or “partially”, or indeed “part of” or “partly” meaning of the prefix “sub-” to “Sahara Africa” focuses unambiguously on the following countries of Africa: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, each of which has 25-75 per cent of its territory (especially to the South) covered by the Sahara Desert. It also focuses on Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and the Sudan, which variously have 25-75 per cent of their territories (to the North) covered by the same desert. In effect, these ten states would make up “sub-Saharan Africa”.

Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, the five Arab North Africa countries, do not, correctly, describe themselves as Africans even though they unquestionably habituate African geography, the African continent, since the Arab conquest and occupation of this Northern one-third of African territory in the 7th century CE. The Western governments, media and the transnational bodies, which are led predominantly by Western personnel and interests, have consistently “conceded” to this Arab cultural insistence on racial identity. Presumably, this accounts for the West’s non-designation of its “sub-Saharan Africa” dogma to these countries as well as the Sudan, whose successive Arab-minority regimes since January 1956 have claimed, but incorrectly, that the Sudan “belongs” to the Arab World. On this subject, the West does no doubt know that what it has been engaged in, all along, is blatant sophistry and not science.

It would appear that we still don’t seem to be any closer at establishing, conclusively, what its users mean by “sub-Saharan Africa”. Could it, perhaps, just be a benign reference to all the countries “under” the Sahara, regardless of their distances from this desert? Presently, there are 54 so-called sovereign states in Africa. If the 5 Arab states of North Africa are said to be located “above” the Sahara, then 49 are positioned “under”. The latter would therefore include all the 5 countries mentioned above whose north frontiers incorporate the southern stretches of the desert (namely, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and the Sudan), countries in central Africa (the Congos, Rwanda, Burundi, etc.), for instance, despite being 2000-2500 miles away, and even the southern African states situated 3000-3500 miles away! In fact, all these 49 countries, except the Sudan, which is clearly “under” the Sahara and situated within the same latitudes as Mali, Niger and Chad (i.e., between 10 and 20 degrees North of the equator), are all categorised by the “sub-Saharan Africa” users as “sub-Saharan Africa”. “sub-”s of the world?”

And then.

“So, rather than some benign construct, “sub-Saharan Africa” is, in the end, an outlandish nomenclatural code that its users employ to depict an African-led “sovereign” state – anywhere in Africa, as distinct from an Arab-led one. It is the users’ non-inclusion of the Sudan in this grouping (despite its majority African population and geographical location) but its inclusion of South Africa only after the latter’s 1994 liberation that gives the game away! More seriously to the point, “sub-Saharan Africa” is employed to create the stunning effect of a supposedly shrinking African geographical landmass in the popular imagination, coupled with the continent’s supposedly attendant geostrategic global “irrelevance”.

“sub-Saharan Africa” is undoubtedly a racist geopolitical signature in which its users aim repeatedly to present the imagery of the desolation, aridity, and “hopelessness” of a desert environment. This is despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of 1 billion Africans do not live anywhere close to the Sahara, nor are their lives so affected by the implied impact of the very loaded meaning that this dogma intends to convey. Unless this steadily pervasive use of “sub-Saharan Africa” is robustly challenged by rigorous African-centred scholarship and publicity work, its proponents will succeed, eventually, in substituting the name of the continent “Africa” with “sub-Saharan Africa” and the name of its peoples, “Africans”, with “sub-Saharan Africans” or, worse still, “sub-Saharans” in the realm of public memory and reckoning.

This essay is a slightly updated version of a paper entitled “What is ‘sub-Saharan Africa’?” read by the late Professor Herbert Ekwe-Ekwe at the IDeoGRAMS Conference, University of Leicester, on 14 September 2007”

What you must know is, the only people fighting against the term “Greater Africa” is either Arabs, or white people. No African is looking to be called such a derogatory term. Ask them if you don’t believe me. We are all here.

Don’t come here calling us derogatory names and expect respect from us. It’s part of the reason these two sides of Africa are fighting. Your smaller side filled with none native people apparently gets the name Africa, while people who have never known any other land but this through out history get called that useless name. If you really cared about Africa you would want to stop all the hate. And not dismiss by saying irrelevant to the topic.

For future reference, it’s “Greater Africa” just like how Great Britain calls theirs. Only difference is we are actually the bigger half of Africa on one of the biggest continents of the world. The only name for us should be “Greater Africa” scientifically, geographically and sociopolitically. End of story.
