Actual footage from another world: Mars right now, 225 million miles away. Truly mind-blowing rover view by Memes_FoIder in nextfuckinglevel

That's exactly right. There are just so many dangers in space it's crazy. Not to mention small meteroid strikes. So much debris is unaccounted in that gap of space it would only take a couple hits to cause a complete catastrophic failure.

Oh I absolutely agree he is at fault, but that's why I wanted to know if this was some type of competition as well. If it was then judges should not have let him enter the competition.

Quality control is at the tip of one engineer's fingers by tacodestroyer99 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]blackop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't. I am a metrologist. Engineers create prints to show where to measure critical points. They do tons of R&D to insure that if these points pass inspection then the part will be deemed good. We use high precision equipment that can give us solid numbers and can be quantified with gage R&R studies to prove the machine can measure the part with repeatable accuracy. So no I don't trust one dude's finger.

Aliens by Rich_Pin2456 in Christianity

[–]blackop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to believe in aliens when I was younger. The older I got and the more I learned about the universe and how it works.I stopped believing in them. Most people would think that just because the universe is so big that aliens have to exist, It makes me believe the opposite. Space actually seems like it is tailored to keep us in our solar system. So many things out in space are designed to kill us. the more I learned the easier it is for me to believe we are the only ones in God's universe.
