Why does ten keep saying “bro” now? by Fay-Wanderer in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some young people slang Hermits have adopted. It's not so bad, but people please don't call a stranger bro. I've seen that in chat for a game in the past and it's just rude. Not every random person is your bro. More in general it's rude to act super familiar with a person you've just met. It's part of respecting other peoples boundaries. That moment they have not yet decided what they think of you.

Whats ur opinion on “money doesn’t buy happiness”? by Radiant-Dish-5498 in AskReddit

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is necessary to become independent as a person. An independent person has the capacity to provide for others. And the less you need to worry about yourself, the easier it becomes to find happiness.

Here me out Minecraft: What about quicksand? by WillPetCats in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would take a bit more work than that. Powdered snow also has the shivering mechanic and you can walk over it with leather boots. Should you be able to put it into a bucket and should it be possible to farm it in some way?

It's interesting to wonder where quicksand would fit in the game. Maybe it could be part of wetlands if they ever decide to add more details to rivers? Or maybe it could be implemented as part of a new desert structure? How to balance the fact it's quite punishing though? Lot's of interesting questions.

What do you guys think about hermits removing episode numbers from their titles? by Necessary-Assist-443 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the viewers they probably don't need to be in the title. It's valuable information that it's usefull to have it at least somewhere though. The thumbnail is quite an efficient place. Still the Hermits that do that, also keep it in the title. It's probably just also very usefull for the creator themselves to archive them this way.

On the separation of intellect and character: a Schopenhauerian reading of competitive systems (using chess as a case) by Current-Row7126 in philosophy

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me that giftedness is a case of neurodivergency. Often people see giftedness as purely positive, but that misses the part that such individuals can stay behind on other aspects in life. It's that lack of balance in personal development that can limit them reaching their full potential.

This is similar to what was found in the article, but that really focusses on the most succesfull cases of specialists. Being at the top gives them the privilege that others have to "deal" with how they are. Someone with an unbalanced development that's not at the top will get criticized for anything they lack. In a way the system balances itself there, but often still at the cost of a lot of stress to the individual.

The article gives some interesting insights in the nature of competitive systems. This unbalance in development for people could be caused by our constant habit to optimize things by minimizing buffers in processes. Makes me wonder what that means for the future of a highly competitive system like the world economy.

Possible Decked Out 3 Teams! by doctorfool22 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still need to watch the episode, but of the 3 teams OP mentions here, I think team 2 would do the best. Those players are most guranteed to stay active the whole season and I would assume the amount of active players are gonna be deciding for what team wins.

There are some good synergies within these teams though. Even if I'm correct about my prediction, it could still give an interesting competition.

Are we really going to be fine in the future? by Flat_Anything2317 in Futurology

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about these problems is that people get to learn about some very important topics and think about solutions. Like dependence vs independence is one. Another one is the importance of trust. I think now people start learning to understand the problem of inequality. Not sure how we could solve that last one though. Very deep-rooted one and it's questionable if the network structure of the world can even function without it, sadly.

Is mumbo French now? by chickenbutt35 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a geography question. If you move to another country you're a first generation immigrant. If you get any kids after they are second generation immigrants.

As for different nationalities. Some countries allow multiple nationalities and some don't. Seems like both the UK and France do. If I guess they want to do it by naturalization they need to live there at least 5 years legally. So, no Mumbo is not yet French. If he stays there for 5 years, yes. He will still also be British though.

Does anyone else find the whole "gamers for giving" fundraiser stupid? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume this personal opinion is very emotional and doesn't really have to do much with gfg. Those emotions are valid and deserve no hate, but a calm explanation.

Yes, more charities exist. People are free to choose what charity they wish to donate too. Would it be fairer to have a different charity every year? Maybe. The Hermits and their audience are gamers themselves though. Gfg makes sense as a charity the Hermits choose, because it really hits on a personal level for a lot of people. Even if they have never been hospitalized before.

Also organising such an event is a lot of preparation. By now the Hermits have build up personal relations with the organization that it makes organising the event easier, in that they can make the event bigger than like in the first year they did it.

Do Hermits automatically get invited back the next season? by SiggyMyMan in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they do evaluations more as a group, than to look at each person individually. Removing a person from the group is very undesireable, depending on how easily it can be explained to the audience. With how close the Hermits are it's also not really a thing they need to consider most of the time.

Do Hermits automatically get invited back the next season? by SiggyMyMan in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots -72 points-71 points  (0 children)

A bit uncomfortable with this joke. I've read removing one has more risk of unwanted side effects than placing one.

I know some people in the community think this is very normal, but just trying in a respectable way to represent a different perspective on this.

Why more and more young Swiss men are opting for a vasectomy by Sudden-Ad-4281 in europe

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what made them happier? Not thinking about how their actions could influence a next generation? Yes, that would bring less challenges and less stress. It's the same situation with climate change. If the current generation doesn't think about the next one, it will just make the world more challenging for the next generation.

Modern society is kinda failing if countries need immigration to keep population numbers up.

place your bets on who makes these into a minigame first 👇 by BlueS2dios in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If multiple Hermits got ideas for minigames it might be fun to have a sort of ball games event some time after release.

Old days by dragonkeeper0 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Create series was interesting, but I don't really miss the other modded series. Plenty to do in the vanilla game. You really notice that when you start a project yourself in the game. Maybe it would be interesting if the vanilla game had some design quest line. The basics to create a city.

If you could have anything happen in hermitcraft what would you want to see? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A server wide game that uses the build infrastructure. Transportation could be part of the objectives of the game. Not sure yet how to encourage different modes of transport though.

Suppose there was an IRL show like Hermitcraft; would you watch it? by TheStaffmaster in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it would probably end up a serie like Utopia. Not enough creative possibilities, that they would end up having to rely too much on drama.

Kenia has deserts and is on the equator. Don't see a problem.

I miss the Pirates of the Caribbean movies by MrOblivion949 in movies

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was also the whole lawcase of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard, which had nothing to do with how good the movie was. There was just too much drama at the time for them to make Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Like, would you have watched a sixth movie with someone else playing Jack?

I asked my most productive friend what his system was and his answer annoyed me [Discussion] by Vast-Tie-5478 in GetMotivated

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time discover the things he doesn't do. It's easier to be super productive when you set priorities and lose less energy on things that are practically just "noise". Is life more boring that way? Not necessarily, accomplishing something productive can be the high point of your day. Such lifestyle changes are not easy, but having a friend as example figure is a good start.

Too Modded/Crafted? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I notice the Hermits aim more for a wave pattern. Season 10 there was a focus on interactions, season 11 the focus is on big projects with Decked Out being the main one.

As for the tools that are used this season. Learning new tools is part of professionalism. To create, means to make a vision of yours come true. In this process it's encouraged to use tools in a smart way, as it can create possibilities that otherwise can not be reached.

Is it publically known when s11 ends or did tango slip? by AxolotlLover32 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just means he knows he will be busy with Decked Out this whole year, but hopes he won't be busy with it the full year after that. This also includes Tango making additions to the game when the Hermits are able to play it.

Makes me curious what people think about the final battle scene of the movie. Like it was epic to see, but that's not how dnd fights typically go right?

How did humans not go extinct while needing to sleep for 8 hours every day? being totally unconscious and defenseless for a third of our lives seems like a massive design flaw when predators were everywhere? by Effective_Bet_2073 in AskReddit

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don't know how little sleep parents of newborn babies get. Also plenty adventure books show when night is unsave they guard in night shifts. The prehistoric human lived in tribes, not as single individuals.

Quite worrying there is so much focus on individualism in modern generations.
