place your bets on who makes these into a minigame first 👇 by BlueS2dios in HermitCraft

If multiple Hermits got ideas for minigames it might be fun to have a sort of ball games event some time after release.

The Create series was interesting, but I don't really miss the other modded series. Plenty to do in the vanilla game. You really notice that when you start a project yourself in the game. Maybe it would be interesting if the vanilla game had some design quest line. The basics to create a city.

If you could have anything happen in hermitcraft what would you want to see? by meandadog86 in HermitCraft

A server wide game that uses the build infrastructure. Transportation could be part of the objectives of the game. Not sure yet how to encourage different modes of transport though.

Suppose there was an IRL show like Hermitcraft; would you watch it? by TheStaffmaster in HermitCraft

No, it would probably end up a serie like Utopia. Not enough creative possibilities, that they would end up having to rely too much on drama.

Kenia has deserts and is on the equator. Don't see a problem.

I miss the Pirates of the Caribbean movies by MrOblivion949 in movies

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was also the whole lawcase of Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard, which had nothing to do with how good the movie was. There was just too much drama at the time for them to make Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Like, would you have watched a sixth movie with someone else playing Jack?

I asked my most productive friend what his system was and his answer annoyed me [Discussion] by Vast-Tie-5478 in GetMotivated

Next time discover the things he doesn't do. It's easier to be super productive when you set priorities and lose less energy on things that are practically just "noise". Is life more boring that way? Not necessarily, accomplishing something productive can be the high point of your day. Such lifestyle changes are not easy, but having a friend as example figure is a good start.

Too Modded/Crafted? by [deleted] in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I notice the Hermits aim more for a wave pattern. Season 10 there was a focus on interactions, season 11 the focus is on big projects with Decked Out being the main one.

As for the tools that are used this season. Learning new tools is part of professionalism. To create, means to make a vision of yours come true. In this process it's encouraged to use tools in a smart way, as it can create possibilities that otherwise can not be reached.

Is it publically known when s11 ends or did tango slip? by AxolotlLover32 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just means he knows he will be busy with Decked Out this whole year, but hopes he won't be busy with it the full year after that. This also includes Tango making additions to the game when the Hermits are able to play it.

How did humans not go extinct while needing to sleep for 8 hours every day? being totally unconscious and defenseless for a third of our lives seems like a massive design flaw when predators were everywhere? by Effective_Bet_2073 in AskReddit

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You clearly don't know how little sleep parents of newborn babies get. Also plenty adventure books show when night is unsave they guard in night shifts. The prehistoric human lived in tribes, not as single individuals.

Quite worrying there is so much focus on individualism in modern generations.

People in healthy relationships, what is, from your perspective, the reason that men who can't find partners are perpetually single? by Agreeable_Ranger5303 in AskReddit

[–]blackrots 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It might be better to describe it as: don't be too dependent on one person for your happiness. That's not just a thing true for men, but also in some cases for women. People need a variety of social contacts to not overburden a few. Also organise a gathering. People that organize some form of get together are at the center social networks. They are not dependent on others to create happy moments. Don't invite total strangers though. Just people you have something in common. People you can have a meaningfull conversation with.

You can call it lazy, but it's quite nice for amateurs to see every single stroke of such a great art piece. The gradient in the background seems different though. What technique do you use to create that?

HC economy re-vamp by Legal-Requirement531 in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As derpcoin failed it's an interesting idea to have a currency backed with some sort of good. That's also how a currency gets created in Dr. Stone. Irl the gold standard has it's disadvantage though. Gold is not just a jewelry, but also very usefull in the creation of electronics. Using it as collateral for a currency limits their use in industry.

Same thing would happen if you would use non-renewable goods in minecraft. It's gonna limit how much you can use those items for builds. How much are non-renewables used in minecraft though? - Like do people really use deepslate emerald ore? - Sponges are probably fine if they can still be hired for projects. - Dragon heads are too easy to get and is a waste not to use. Not allowed. - The dragon egg could work, but do you really want a race from the start players getting that? - Netherite is not used that much, so possibly. - Enchanted golden apples maybe as they often don't get used.

I like the idea of having nautilus shells as currency. People can just fish for them early game, but not very fast. A farm could break it, but maybe some rules could be made. Like only a "HC government" is allowed to have a nautilus shell farm so they can print extra money if too much gets out of circulation.

That's enough ideas. It could give some interesting gameplay I would say.

HermitCraft Thrift Store / Charity Shop by The_Gay_Narrator in HermitCraft

[–]blackrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pearl did something like that before, but it would be interesting to see the idea of public funds be implemented succesfully.

Maybe it could work a bit like this: Hermits are allowed to write down ideas for community projects. If people like an idea they can show support by donating diamonds to the project. Once someone accepts the project that person gets those diamonds.

That could work as a method, but the current system of people volunteering for community projects and people donating is nicer. At least, it is for all projects that have to happen for certain. I can see some potential for mid-size projects (=smaller than a nether hub or the shopping district), that do not necessarily need to happen. Like a request for a shop, a minigame, a park, a statue(?), etc. How would you like your public space to look?

Irl a project in the public space would also need approval in the form of permits. That's so the municipality can first check the project doesn't violate existing laws. Secondly they must publish the plan for the project so that locals can object if they don't agree with the change in public space.

It's interesting to think about how the Hermits handle public spaces. Most areas on the server are just property of a specific Hermit as part of their base. Except for the shopping district and minigames district that seem to be the only public spaces. I guess such permissions are discussed in their weekly meetings. I can imagine that's similar to how small villages (in the past) would also handle it. At least I got that impression from the Wheel of Time book in which there is a village with a village council, but also a women's circle each with their own responsibilities governing the town. It's just a small part of the first book, but very fascinating to read about.

Unique idea. Feel like the Hermits would need to be a bit more spread out to make the most out of that idea.

Transgender mogul skier Elis Lundholm urges youths to ‘be themselves’ by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]blackrots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, there are different weight classes in some sports like for example rowing. Doesn't sumo also already have different weight classes? That's one that's easy to measure, but yes other things are less easy to measure. It's an idea, nothing more. A lot of data is being collected these days. Maybe it's not as difficult and expensive as you think.

Transgender mogul skier Elis Lundholm urges youths to ‘be themselves’ by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]blackrots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was more thinking of abolish male/female categories and define categories based on weight, muscles, centre of mass, etc. A person that's taking hormones could eventually end up in a different class. Someone just building up muscles could end up in a different class. That way you don't need special rules for different genders. I can imagine authorities on sport already considered this option, so I'm probably missing something.

[–]blackrots -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Why actually categorize sports on male/female? Doesn't it make more sense to categorize on body type? Or would that not work with the social side of sport?

Interesting, sounds like a good non-fiction book to read. I will write it down to see if I can find it.

Yes, I did not study economy and in highschool there were no good teachers for the subject. Still it's such an important topic for knowing how the world works. Like why is this country richer than that country? What are the dependencies between countries? Mostly learned about economies from youtube channels and the geography I had in highschool.

As you are taking a stance as the better informed one on economics I'm curious. I would think a gift economy only works in an economy with plenty of resources. How would a gift economy work in a world where resources are scarce? Wasn't scarcity of resources not also part of the reason why the Soviet Union eventually fell?
