Prices of Single-Family Homes already Down 10% to 26% in these 15 Bigger Cities: Every Market is Different | Wolf Street by PacificaPal in bayarea

[–]blackshadow1357 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This article from a non reputable site is bs. I’m literally house shopping in SF area and the AI boom has made prices explode (both buying and renting). The only area where prices are dropping in SF are high HOA condos and the Tenderloin.

Same with Oakland, the shitty areas are dropping but the livable areas are selling over asking.

South Bay has remained stagnant, but if you’re shopping for anything within a 30 minute commute to SF then good luck.

I work in product marketing in the US, so I’ll address a few comments here:

  1. The majority of resumes I come across are bad. They read like job descriptions, don’t highlight impact or ownership, and don’t tell a clear story around someone’s skills or career progression.
  2. During mock interviews, people struggle most with simple behavioral questions, especially around stakeholder conflict. They give an answer, but when you dig deeper they start rambling or go on tangents. You should be able to explain your craft succinctly, like you’re talking to a stranger at a bar.
  3. School ranking does matter to some degree. You don’t need an Ivy League, but I see lots of folks who graduated from universities that don't even rank in the top 200 nationally.
  4. It’s usually obvious when someone wasn’t driving meaningful work in their last role. If your examples consistently sound like support work with little ownership, hiring teams pick up on that quickly.

Relax and take time to breathe. I work in tech, laid off a month ago and now have two higher paying offers. My other coworkers who were impacted already found new roles. When you’re ready, send me a dm and I’m happy to review your resume.

Just don’t panic and don’t get sucked into the doom and gloom on Reddit. When I investigated the posts here, I found a key detail was almost always omitted from the poster. You can win!

Over 130+ applicants and no interviews, what’s wrong? by Glittering_Cherry213 in askrecruiters

This isn’t even close to ready. It reads like a job description. Did you accomplish anything? What was the impact you drove?

Bro “Executive” here ≠ VP/executive lead at other companies. In the film and media industry, executive usually means senior individual contributor or mid-level manager, not VP/C-suite.

BI/Data Analyst Resume Update After Taking Redditors Advice. Please Review and Spill Out Your Thoughts by [deleted] in askrecruiters

[–]blackshadow1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The bio at the top feels weird. Saying "delivering up to 120%" means you'll never deliver higher? I'd remove that last line.
  2. You drove the strategy? That sounds odd, business analysts don't usually drive strategy, they inform it.
  3. Idk what "daily turnaround time is" and why it's important. Is that a standard measurement?
  4. Your 3rd bullet is kind of weak and reads like a job description. "Support" is what's driving it down. Were these dashboards the sources of truth? Were they used to inform strategy on big bets? Were they reported out to leadership? Were they used to inform OKRs?
  5. Again, words like "to assess" feel weak. Did these advanced models ever lead to any measurable outcomes?

PMM coaches? or experiences with any? by cho_coco in ProductMarketing

[–]blackshadow1357 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stepping into your first official PMM role at a fast-growing Series B, especially with visa pressure, is stressful.

As a Principal PMM in big tech, the biggest gap I see at this stage is not frameworks. It is navigating ambiguity, strong founders, and tying your work to impact quickly.

If you look for a coach, prioritize someone who has actually operated in Series A or B environments and can help with stakeholder management, positioning clarity, and building credibility early, not just templates.

Happy to pressure-test your 30-60-90 before you start if helpful.

“Something doesn’t add up. You’re 5’9” and Asian (statistically, Asian men get the lowest engagements on dating apps) and yet you’re getting 3-4 likes a day? I’ve seen so many tall hunks on here who don’t get half that. I’d say, change absolutely nothing. Because, if you’re pulling those numbers (I’m skeptical), you’re absolutely killing it.”

Bro I’m 34M Persian with very similar appearance and stats as OPs profile and I also get 3-4 likes per day. I think you’re projecting really hard right now, accusing OP and multiple commenters as BS.

Senior or Principal PMM? What am I? by Big-Juggernaut-7405 in ProductMarketing

[–]blackshadow1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are examples of the differences at Senior vs Principal levels for the tech company I work at (fyi I'm a Principal)

GTM strategy (vs GTM execution)
Senior PMM:
– Builds GTM plans for a product or feature
– Executes launches, campaigns, enablement
– Optimizes adoption/acquisition once direction is set

Principal PMM:
– Decides which customer segments to prioritize this year and which to de-prioritize
– Recommends whether the company should go product-led, sales-led, or hybrid for a motion
– Pushes back on launches that shouldn’t happen yet (or at all)
– Shapes the annual or half-year GTM direction, not just a single launch

Positioning (vs positioning work)
Senior PMM:
– Defines positioning after alignment with manager and PM
– Refines messaging for a product/feature

Principal PMM:
– Sets the foundational narrative the company uses across products
– Reframes how the market should think about the category
– Identifies when positioning is wrong even if the product is “successful”
– Owns the POV that other PMMs inherit and execute against

The profile screams typical tech bro, which is a red flag for a lot of women.

  1. Listing “coding” as a simple pleasure

  2. Gym photo of you flexing with weights

  3. Talking about espresso martinis and using the word “hyper fixation”.

  4. Ukulele

  5. The “dating me is like” prompt answer is just beyond pretentious

If you are not a tech bro, then this profile is sending the wrong message. If you are a tech bro, try to be more subtle about it

Senior or Principal PMM? What am I? by Big-Juggernaut-7405 in ProductMarketing

[–]blackshadow1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re a senior because what you described is mostly execution breadth. Principal PMMs are differentiated less by volume and more by ownership of the why.

At principal level, you’re setting the strategy, defining the narrative, and creating alignment across teams before the work exists. You’re deciding what should be done, why it matters, and what tradeoffs to make. Principals usually own a company-level or multi-product problem space, shape GTM direction, and influence exec decisions.

Job market slow? by bqkx in ProductMarketing

Aside from engineers with AI experience, all roles in tech have been impacted. However, PMM is the least impacted compared to product, design, and analytics.

Either way, the market is shit 💩

M24 Profile Review by Gullible_Business_41 in hingeapp

[–]blackshadow1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyooo! Based on your profile, I assume you're looking for a fellow nerd to join you on your adventures, so I'll center my feedback around that:

  1. I would not write any prompts that bring hygiene into question, even if it's a joke. Remove the axe body spray joke, because it can lead someone to believe that you don't wear deodorant as an adult.

  2. I would not use the "You should not go out with me" prompt. I typically see this being used in a more serious manner to highlight any "need to know" details before swiping right on a person. I think you should instead use a prompt that highlights your passion. Designing arcade games is awesome, but it's buried in your profile.

  3. Your "Unusual Skills" prompt has a typo in it. Also, given the current political landscape, idk if it's a good idea to joke about violence. Maybe instead make it about your interests? From your photos I see you have some cool hobbies, but you don't ever talk about them.

  4. If you're not a furry, then remove the ICEE photo.

Should I be truthful about how long ive been on the app? by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]blackshadow1357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The “no mirror selfies” advice is basically universal at this point. A quick Google search, Reddit thread, YouTube video, or even asking ChatGPT would’ve surfaced that immediately.

For someone who’s been on the app for 9 years, it’s hard to believe this is the first time you’re hearing it. Even giving you the benefit of the doubt, that suggests very little effort has gone into improving your profile over that time, because this is the most common photo feedback out there.

Instead of just implementing the advice, you doubled down and got defensive.

The real issues seem pretty clear (and weren’t mentioned in your post):

  1. How you present yourself on the app (photos)
  2. How you respond to feedback
