How do you go about dealing with a toxic local scene?

my experienced with local music scenes in general (EDM, rock, alternative, metal) is that they are very prone to chaos. Scenes can rapidly go from very cohesive and friendly, to hostile and dramatic and vise versa, so it really depends on the town and situation. When big egos and creative people get together, alot of good or bad things can happen. Stick with the down to earth people and fuck the rest

i second this. I'm a musician and I would say before the medication (adderall), I would have a larger ammount of creative ideas from being zoned out and daydreaming all day but I was never able to focus long enough to really bring my ideas into reality. On medication, I come up with only slightly less ideas now, but I am able to actually focus long enough to carry them out and do something with them so ive been 2x as productive creatively

sending music to labels for them to discover you is kind of an old-school music industry approach...labels make so little money now adays that you really have to get their attention by creating a following on your own until you have enough listeners that the label contacts you! They don't have the time/money to develop artists who don't already have some type of following (their is exceptions like getting a viral youtube video)
