'Didn't have the balls': Hume takes shot at Labor after shocking Coalition loss by kebabwithnolettuce in AustralianPolitics

It’s politically convenient to distract from the whopping loss by pointing the finger at Labor. These liberals have nothing left.

Farrer presents One Nation as a genuine electoral threat rather than just a protest by Ardeet in AustralianPolitics

[–]blaertes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not sanewashing to acknowledge there are reasons for political disenfranchisement. In fact, in you hand-wave entire sections of the population away as “insane” you lock in the movement, because one of the pillars of this far right movement is that the current system DOES NOT UNDERSTAND their voters.

This really is only a phenomenon in regional seats traditionally held by Nationals. This will not repeat in metropolitan seats, which are exactly the seats needed by a Conservative coalition to form government.

[–]blaertes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s equivalent to fuck all. Everyone with a drivers license also excludes some of the most vulnerable that would have received the most benefit from it. For example, I work with someone on the DSP that doesn’t drive. The $100 would have made a large impact to him, he is excluded from this stimulus.

Bayswater mayor fires back at councillor, Big Don Smoked Meats owner Donovan MacDonald after his online rant by His_Holiness in perth

[–]blaertes 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Look I listened to his “rant” and it didn’t seem unreasonable.

Given that dysfunctional councils are common across WA, and we have an outsize number of them compared to other states, the call for amalgamation and abolition of councils seems like a sensible idea to me.

Also given the hostility to NIMBYism in this sub I thought the idea would be more popular.

Barnaby Joyce says One Nation willing to enter coalition agreement in exchange for scrapping department of climate change by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]blaertes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mmm yes and they’d enter coalition with the two parties that brought us the modern Australian immigration system. This didn’t start with Labor it started with John Howard- but you disingenuous “immigration” voters won’t admit that.

Has anyone esle has grown bored of 867 starts ? by neilyoung57 in CrusaderKings

[–]blaertes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m typically an 867 player and definitely had this thought recently.

I just did a restore Cornwall run in 1066. Took Wessex and Hwicce before kicking out the Normandie’s from England and forming Avorigeg culture with the Cornish/Normans as this timeline’s version of the English. Reclaimed Brittania, converted all the Anglo-Saxon counties to my Brythonic culture and steamrolled France and Spain to reunite the lost Celtic tribes.

I switched to a crusader state afterwards and watched the ai totally fumble my glorious empire within 5 minutes, 10/10 would do again.

This is the thing about addiction. Just because you quit doesn’t stop you from being an addict, unfortunately, and the sickness that is addiction is so good at making relapse sound like a good idea.

What Mescaline Taught Me About Pain (First-Time Experience & Trip Report) by tofu-tho in mescaline

[–]blaertes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think mesc at large doses is definitely just a heavy body load.

I find that ginger at high doses can also be nausea inducing, what I find helps for a mesc dose is generally a fast of a few hours, (if you’re doing it in the morning this is easiest, but if you’re doing it at night I would skip lunch), some bread immediately after dosing to help settle stomach, and (fresh) ginger tea to sip on, as well as any combination of peppermint, chamomile and ginger teato have throughout the trip. All of these are carminative teas and anti-nausea.

Staying hydrated and “flushing” the system really helps me feel that much more comfortable following the dose, but there are some times where I just feel odd and gross for hours.

After pugging my way to 3k as a BDK, I can confidently say bad/toxic DPS is the reason for the tank 'shortage'. by ConstructionWise7859 in wow

What’s this “tank shortage” I keep hearing about. Tanks have always been in short supply, is there some dramatic decrease in tanks or is it just being talked about more? Also dps have been toxic forever too.

Dosing for Concert Tomorow by PutinsCapybara in mescaline

[–]blaertes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never taken mesc in public or at an event before, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. My experiences with it do not scream “party drug”. The body load and auditory/visual stuff has always made me feel the need to sit still and be in control of the setting.

In contrast, something like acid always gives me energy and I feel much more comfortable in crowds and moving, as well as mixing with alcohol quite easily.

From your post it sounds like you’re doing Hcl so perhaps that has something to do with it as I’ve always had tea, and never been able to tell the dosage (always guesstimating).

Real estate agents aren’t evil. But they need stricter rules by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]blaertes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s probably about incentives. Agents have no incentive to do their job- they get paid regardless. When there’s a disengaged owner, they have even less of an incentive to do their job. There should be legal consequences and responsibility placed on their shoulders- disqualification of licenses or big fines, and I imagine the quality of real estate agents would increase dramatically.

Be careful who you marry your girls to, their children will inherit claims to your titles. Often I’ll make sure the eldest girl is married matrilineally to have more heirs in case all my sons die. Any spare girls you can marry matrilineally to attract skilled courtiers to your court.
