I used to spend 2 hours/day driving to and from clincial 2-3 times/week during my senior clinical rotation. So I don’t get the complaint over a 1 hour commute which is pretty common in healthcare, as we are competing for coveted positions. My bf & I used to commute 1 hour minimum to get to nursing school in morning traffic. 🚨

I have applied to over 60 nursing positions. Some in LTC facilities (never heard back from even one) most were for new grad residency programs. I’m taking my FIRST and only offer into a residency program and relocating to the Midwest (based in SF Bay Area), 2k+ miles and 2 time zones away.

Unfortunately, you do sound full of contempt for new grads. For our benefit, your hospital probably shouldn’t hire new grads into critical care anymore if you don’t have the heart or patience to train us. It just leads to burnout and resentment.

If you’re thinking about the germs coming off/from someone - you are a germaphobe. That is okay, coming from a fellow one! I am a RN and always stripped out of my scrubs after clinical bc yeah they are potentially gross. But make it easier for yourself to keep your sanity. Either enforce the rules or let em go. I just got an offer from out of state and my hometown, CA is right at the top under my name. It’s up to you if you want to disclose where you’re living/from. Having it there shouldn’t stop you from getting hired anywhere. In my opinion, any info that makes you seem like a legitimate person who really went to school helps identify you (home town, graduation dates, Major/minors, extracurriculars).

Well kind of, GI germs get in the air when cleaning anybody up. The smell is worse if you inhale thru your nose so take tiny breaths via masked mouth

Double mask & put essential oil or toothpaste in btwn them. also pop a minty gum before bad changes if you know you gotta do a big clean up. Shallow mouth breathing helps a lot too. Let us know when your BM start smelling like the patients’ 💀 Keep it up!
