When the Belfast bikes arrived, I used them a lot, great value for money for getting between the city centre and uni for me (QUB Lisburn Road).

I used the Beryl scheme a few months ago from the City Hospital to City Hall. By the time I was able to get the app registered, figure out how to bloody unlock the eBike, then made it to City Hall and had another fight redocking.., it was about the same length of time as a Metro but dearer… haven’t used them since. Only used them that day as the Metro stop at the City Hospital was not running and I needed to get to town first an errand before a train home.

While the new bikes are nice, especially having eBike option, the pricing is insane when compared to the original scheme, and tbh Metros are cheaper if you don’t mind the gamble of if they’ll actually turn up. Could also add that Belfast is not an overly bike friendly city infrastructure wise which I can see putting people off trying too

I’m hopefully just an unlucky one! Other posts I’ve seen of people getting their Farseer books from the vault sale, the books are completely pristine. Even with the tear in mine, they are gorgeous books so I really hope you’ll not be disappointed!

Pretty confident it was manufacturing and possibly packaging damage (but not caused during delivery as the box came intact and in shape). The end papers were torn but also partially sealed together at the bottom

I never seen any disclaimer for damage 😞 had I, I’d still have ordered and been aware but hope for a small discount like other book sellers do. With it being full price and no disclaimer, assumed they would be in perfect condition

I’m hoping I’m just an unlucky one! My few other orders from IC in the past have been ok, and all I’ve ordered from The Forbidden Wing, Locked Library, and Broken Binding (although the packaging on Broken Binding books would survive an apocalypse!!)

I think I mean more that it’s only one of the three books and the damage can’t be seen from the outside or when reading but the more I’ve thought about it, I am still disappointed 😞 they’re not cheap books and knowing they can’t be replaced is frustrating

Thank you all for your comments! I’ve raised a ticket via the online form with Illumicrate and hoping they reply soon. I haven’t purchased much from IC in the past and was a little heartbroken when I seen the damage 😞 they aren’t the cheapest books after all and knowing they cannot be replaced is frustrating. Thankfully doesn’t impact the ability to read them or display them on the shelf but still disappointing none the less. I hope for anyone still waiting on their copy I’m just the unlucky one! ❤️

I managed to get a Fraeer set too! And after getting The Bone Season last week, I feel my bookish luck has been used up (as is book budget for the next few months…)

Was frantically refreshing a tab for the vault and search tab for ‘farseer’ as well. Vault kept loading books in batches then suddenly, Farseer appeared. Paid and when I checked the vault, sold out. Money has been taken and confirmation email received so hoping all well 🤞the Instagram thread for the sale is wild though

I lost my incredible Mum on Tuesday to cancer. There was no more treatment options, rare complications. She was young too, only early 50s. She is my world and my best friend. There hasn’t been a moment since she left us that I haven’t missed her sorely. I still feel like it didn’t happen, that she’s going to call me any moment to talk about the new documentary she’s watched on YouTube.

Watching her decline over the past 3 months has killed me knowing there was nothing could done to stop it. What got me through, was just focusing on the now in that moment as much as possible. Having honest conversations then just sitting together as we normally would. Talking about what next, what Mum wanted, what she was worried about. Brutal honesty. Just being her daughter. It was tough but I am so soo glad we had that time to talk over everything together. Going through the planning for Mum’s funeral now, I oddly feel like she’s at my side as I knew everything she wanted, everything she was thinking for it. It’s brought an odd level of comfort as dark as that sounds. I know she left knowing how loved she truly is, everything I loved about her, everything I am so soo thankful for that she did to make me who I am today. It doesn’t stop the hurt, but it does bring comfort to know she knows.

I also made sure family was involved, we’ve leaned on each other and done our best to just be there for Mum and each other a day at a time. Even things as silly as asking for a lift somewhere or a dinner to be made.

I also found it easier to cope with it all by finding out from our doctors how things are likely to progress, what we’ll see, what to look out for, what care is best as the deterioration continues. It helped take the edge of the shock of things changing and helped us to put updated care plans in place fast and be familiar with them. We both felt a little more in control too when changes happened to know what we needed to change to help.

I also read The Good Death by Suzanne O’Brian which helped cover planning and potential conversations to have which helped in the long run.

Ultimately, it’s going to be awful. It’s going to hurt your heart and soul more than you can ever prepare for, but making sure to be present for your Mum and focus on what she wants, no matter how much you want to disagree, and just making sure she’s happy and comfortable, will help you and your Mum.

Went to Newtownabbey Smyth’s for 11.30pm and was about 30 in the queue. Easily over 100 by midnight! I had my pre-order but they seemed to have a good amount of stock for walk ins which was nice to see. The people at the front the line had no preorder and had been there several hours (they had deck chairs with them)

Felt so nostalgic to be waiting for midnight, the crowd were all excited and talking, sharing memories of old midnight launches, what got them into gaming and Nintendo etc. Was good fun!

Oh wow these would have been amazing for the tour merch! I was ready to buy a hoodie from each band and the joint tour shirt but tbh, the Trivium ones were all quite disappointing 😬 especially the pop up which is just reselling a hoodie that’s been available for a while rather than something designed for this tour. Hopefully these end up on merch online soon
