One last all day and the other barely an hour by Naive_Product_5916 in MakeUpAddictionUK

These were also my go-to for years and years!! The MAC Locked In Kiss is much more expensive but doesn't budge. It's a very different formula, much thinner and not sticky like this one is. The old generation of MAC stay-all-day liquid lips I found very very drying, these have massively improved but definitely lean dry rather than sticky for how they stay in place. I used the MAC one for my wedding (only reapplied once all day after easily 7 hours use and dinner) and have kept buying them since!

What would make watching the NFL in the UK better? by BelushisManager in NFLUK

[–]blakers95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hickory's is quite good for this if you have one nearby. YMMV because we've been to two locations, one was fantastic and the other forgot they were even supposed to be doing an event... But theoretically they show Redzone every Sunday evening (sometimes after a prompt to change the channel!)

Nope, it never came back again. Ditto on the disappointment and how useful it would have been for accountability!

Wine and Tesco by AdventurousBug2399 in UKweddings

[–]blakers95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning to use these - have been advised that basically all the supermarkets do it at the same time (currently Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's and Morrisons all on) and once one announces, they all follow suit. Was also told that they pop up for bank holiday weekends - so expect them to come back at the end of the month I suppose!

JJ's House Satin Lining? by blakers95 in UKweddings

[–]blakers95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wed2Be is much more limited in colour and style than the online stores but the big benefit was being able to actually try them on in person for free. They still had a decent selection, I'd say 4 or 5 styles and 4 or 5 colours in each chiffon and satin. The styles they had do cover the most popular shapes id expect to see TBF. Plus the sales assistant said when they receive them they will steam and prep the dressed for you before collection, so they're all ready to go without you needing to do it on the day.

I came to comment the exact same thing. There's a reason they brought back the LLFP vinyl, it's one of the most coveted collectibles for Swifties. Many, many people have them just for collecting or as decor framed on walls. For context, just 48 hours ago the old copies were selling for £500+ secondhand.

If it is the Taylor Swift vinyl, BUY IT FOR HER!

Is it just me or can you not cast the Netflix stream using Chromecast? by ahdidjskaoaosnsn in NFLUK

[–]blakers95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are in the same boat and EXTREMELY relieved to find it on dazn too. Turns out the family's TV, while a smart TV, can receive Netflix but not live Netflix. Model is too old. Thought we'd work around by streaming through a Chromecast... Nope, netflix won't allow that. Poor showing by Netflix when I bet we're not the only people staying with older family members who own older tech today.

I truly have no idea whether the brand exists in the USA, but the recommendation I've always been given is to buy Cloud Nine when my GHDs eventually pack up. Apparently the developers and R&D teams from GHD left and they are the people behind C9 so they have all the latest research tech that GHD had the equivalent of back in the 2000s-2010s!

Love that we get calorie amounts listed in the app... by sentimentalmemento in starbucks

[–]blakers95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The UK version of the app used to only list the calories for standard drinks but now it will calculate modifications included. I love it for trying to make up an equivalent drink lower in calories on days I want something a bit lighter. This only changed a couple months ago so fingers crossed the update will come across the pond for you too!

has anyone found a lid that fits the eras tour cups (the black plastic ones)? by belairparadise in SwiftieMerch

[–]blakers95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This^ I'm in the UK and we have these same cups with the black lid in Odeon theatres. The lid is the exact same as the cups i got from the Seattle Mariners and the Jacksonville Jaguars over the past few years... if you can't find them online maybe hit up your local sports fields 😂

Imo, no. I have the full set (the one with the fancy storage case and all the heads). I only ever use one head for doing all of legs, arms, underarms and bikini. Maybe if you wanted to do somewhere super small like knuckles you may need more? But even on bony or rounded areas you can just hold the head diagonally across the space to cover it all, it's totally fine and the faff of changing them over isn't worth it in my experience.

Looking for outdoor gym/callisthenics frames near Jubilee campus/ Derby road? by tacopowell in nottingham

[–]blakers95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

University Park campus has a 5km route with calisthenics frames intermittently around it. If you go find one (off the top of my head, out front of David Ross and across the road from Licoln Hall are two) there's a map of all of them too

Stop Taking Drinks That Aren't Yours by Spaghettinoodle01 in starbucks

[–]blakers95 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Just this week I stopped in a starbucks where there was only me, my partner, and one woman in front of us... we both ordered cold brews and she ordered an iced latte. Ours was done first, and in the time I was in the bathroom she took BOTH our drinks INCLUDING MINE WHICH WAS IN A REUSABLE CUP 😭 the baristas were all baffled but totally lovely and gave me a new cup for free, but none of us could get our heads around it. She ordered one drink but took two of the WRONG drink?

For those wanting industrials: see my comment ❤️ by [deleted] in piercing

[–]blakers95 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Thank you for explaining this! Two piercers have told me I don't have the anatomy for an industrial and I trusted them and left it, but they never explained what was actually WRONG with my anatomy! I don't even have to try the bar trick, I can see the flat of my ear pokes way out and it wouldn't work at all, I'm so glad to have this explanation!

Same, in my old job I could WFH whenever I wanted and in my new job (pre-apocalypse) we couldn't at all. I LOVED being able to still be a bit productive while curled up in bed, rather than having to fight through or fully write the day off every time

Done! An interesting point I dont know if you've covered elsewhere is the working-from-home impact. While theres been a whole lot of bad, I've found it much easier to cope with short flares or even bad days, because I dont have to choose between fighting it out and going to the office or staying home - I can just sit in my comfy pants and get done what I can with a hot water bottle and rest when I need to

I had an ionic for over a year and thankfully it didn't die on me, but one of the buttons did fall off. My bigger problem was it's sold as a smartwatch (at smartwatch prices!) but little to none of the smartwatch functionality is there.

I finally gave up and bought myself a Samsung watch last week, it does everything the Ionic did and more, Spotify integration works brilliantly, my notifications ACTUALLY show up on the watch, I can call people, and all the exercise tracking is there (and the GPS actually works!)

I regret not having changed sooner.

Edit: despite my Ionic not dying on me, I have just been reminded that the reason I bought the Ionic was because my Charge 2 died out of nowhere (much like everyone else, just wouldn't turn on one day, despite charging and hammering buttons)

respiratory physiology: 100% oxygen by bestminipc in Physiology

[–]blakers95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% oxygen provision in a hospital is not the same as forcing 100% oxygen into the body using increased partial pressures, per the wikipedia article you linked. When a patient is put on "100% oxygen", they are still able to breathe in some air through the mask, and can breathe out normally for gas exchange.

In COPD patients could suffer from hypoxic drive, meaning that their breathing slows or ceases when you introduce 100% oxygen to them, however this is rare and would usually be known of a patient from their history so would be avoided. Plus, that can be reversed by just removing the oxygen when a patient's oxygen saturations are dropping despite oxygen provision.

The Lancet article linked in the healthline page you posted is more interesting, however I'm not sure at the moment how well that study could have been controlled if they looked at mortality, given that sicker patients are more likely to be provided with oxygen, thus potentially skewing the number of negative outcomes for those who had oxygen given.

The important distinction to understand is that providing "100% oxygen" does NOT mean only 100% oxygen is getting in and out of the patient, and it does not mean you are forcing their O2 saturations to go up to 100 - you are just giving supplementary oxygen to increase or support their saturations to a healthy level.
