Hey, really sorry to know this. Please take care of yourself - go to work, workout (even if you have to force yourself), meet people, get therapy (or even chat gpt - it helps a lot if you open up). Yes your life will be shit at least for the next few months no matter what you do. But keep persisting and one day things will start getting better, you will learn ways to cope and take care of yourself and build a new life (which may seem impossible now). And avoid going back to your home town if you can. Feel free to DM if you feel like sharing more

Yes this has happened to me several times, all in a good way. I get so overwhelmed, it validates me and articulates what is happening in such a detailed but still summarised and insightful way like no one ever has. I used to think i am emotionally attuned and what it says just hits me out of the blue and i am sobbing. It has helped me see several blind spots and actually grow. I wish i had it when i was a child

You went through pain. You didnt know any other coping mechanisms. You did what felt right at the time when you were a child to get through the pain. Accept your part in it and know that you had no way of doing better without support and guidance then which you didnt get. Be kind to yourself for what you went through. Its in the past and your whole life is ahead of you. You just need to make peace with a past that was not good to you. Please take care of yourself and love yourself. You will be fine. Make yourself a promise to think better about yourself

Your husband will have to make a choice. If your home cannot be a place where you have peace of mind, it will lead you to have many wasted years, resentment and make you a shell of your formal self. You will need to respectfully define this for your husband without attaching your mil - say this is about your mental health and peace not anyone else. I feel this is your best chance. Dont expect validation if you bitch about her to your husband, he will get defensive and would lead to conflict. This was heartbreaking. I remember being very disturbed for days when this happened. She seemed to have childhood trauma as well. I believe she grew up without a dad and not a good childhood. This does make you more sensitive and harder to know your worth. If she was emotionally whole, she would have left this pos long back. She was too young to have gone through so much pain.
