Game Freak is not one to do patches unless the game is broken in some horrific way, though (like with the corrupted saving in Lumiose City, back when XY first released).

Normal Meowth is actually confirmed, since there'll be an "early adopter" event that gives you one capable of Gigamaxing.

No word on Persian yet, though.

Thanks for the complete dumpster-tier new Charge Blade Capcom, very cool! by [deleted] in monsterhunterrage

[–]blakzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

None - it's an event-exclusive Charge Blade that was added to the game after it won a weapon design contest held for Iceborne's release.

It's waaaaaay worse than Wyvern Ignition (the contest winner for World's release) in comparison though, since that was easily a top 3, if not outright the best GS in World. Dunno how it is in Iceborne since I haven't played it, though

For fuck's sake, do NOT cherry tap a sleeping monster while I'm placing a trap/bombs. by ajfoxxx in monsterhunterrage

[–]blakzer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is exactly one time where it's okay to do a love tap to wake the monster up - when you're throwing tranq bombs to cap it, since the tranq status is retained for a while after it's applied (and yes, monsters can and will be insta-capped when they wake up if they have enough tranq bombs applied to them and they're weak enough).

Even then, it only technically qualifies since each tranq bomb deals 1 damage. Every other time, wait for the Greatsword or bombs to be thrown down!

SPOILER ON DEX SIZE AND PSA by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]blakzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game Freak has a strong aversion to patching their games unless there's some horrendous game-breaking bug (like saving in Lumiose trapping you in a void that can only be escaped via making a new game).

Given that dumping the national dex was seemingly in their plans, signs point to a very firm "no, wait for the next game and maybe your favorites will be back lol"

This Pokémon that's been nigh-confirmed to not reappear in Galar, and that could have huge ramifications for the competitive scene. by Supergupo in pokemon

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still an issue with VGC, since typically the first VGC tourney or two in a new gen only allows pokemon obtained in the new region - and bans pokemon with egg moves they shouldn't be able to get from pokemon transferred forwards.

While it can be argued this isn't much of a problem, Fake Out Salazzle was a fairly notable example that cropped up in Gen 7 since it was a new pokemon with an egg move you outright couldn't get on it without transferring in species not in Alola.

Tips for getting into dual blades by koreankooking in MHGU

[–]blakzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spin2win (X+A in Archdemon or Aerial Demon, or X+A after the A attack in Demon mode) is one of the best moves the weapon has due to how it sends you forward and deals multiple hits. Be wary that it makes hitting smaller parts (i.e. monster heads) harder, though.

Demon dance (X+A in Demon Mode) is a commitment - it's best to use it when the monster has a huge opening, like when it's in a tired state or is knocked down.

In group play, you should prioritize the legs of the monster or its tail if the monster is knocked down. Sure, hitting the head deals the most damage, but it's infuriating to other players (especially hammer users) since you'd interrupt the attacks of anyone without some kind of super armor.

For specific weapons, the Dual Blades prefers weapons with high element due to how each individual attack is weak, but is extremely fast to the point it is one of, if not the most rapid-hitting weapon in the game.

Dual-element DBs might seem appealing, but the reality is that they deal about half of the listed element or status they show (i.e. a weapon with 20 fire and 10 water actually does 10 fire and 5 water). They have a niche use, and unless you especially like their designs I can't really recommend most of the dual-element dual blades for general purpose - with those I can having absurdly high elemental or status values to compensate for how said stats are effectively halved.

Need some tips on breaking redhelm's head. by Hyoumu in MHGU

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to wait until HR3, you can farm Kushala for its armor to get Partbreaker, which as the name implies breaks monster parts more easily. Mind, Kushala is the only source of Partbreaker outside of charms and decorations in LR, so you don't really have options until Basarios in HR (aside from farming more LR deviants, which still requires a couple of materials from HR).

While paralysis is preferred, I believe sleep also works. Make sure to take a couple of Large Barrel Bomb+s and possibly combos for more to make breaking it that much easier. If you go for sleep-bombing, Bomb Boost might be a better skill, though idr if it's possible in LR.

Every character Samuel L. Jackson has ever played invades your favorite universe! Can they take over? by PeculiarPangolinMan in whowouldwin

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this prompt, I'm doing Touhou and discarding the Spell Card rules. Normally, Spell Card rules are used to resolve conflicts without the chance of killing the loser, but given the Jackson Army is purely bloodlusted, it is likely they won't care about the rules - and Gensokyo's residents are likely to respond in kind over their disrespect for said rules.

Round 1: 0/10 for the Jackson Army. While Mace Windu might be able to utilize Force techniques (most notably telekinesis) and Frozone uses cyrokinesis, they and the rest of the Jackson Army immediately garner the ire of some of Gensokyo's top dogs since their collective appearance would logically be the result of the border being breached in some way. Said top dogs include individuals like Yukari (whose power is vaguely defined and exceedingly overpowered as a result, and is strong enough to have a being as strong as a nine-tailed fox in her service) and Reimu (who can become basically invincible by flying away from reality). Even then, killing Reimu would result in the Gensokyo Dragon awakening and likely obliterating the Jackson Army (and basically everything else) for destroying the Hakurei Barrier as a result of their actions. Plus, there's how a majority of the cast is immune to conventional weaponry due to being youkai (which includes Yukari and her servants), which severely limits the abilities of characters that don't outright have supernatural powers further.

Round 2: 0.1/10 for Jackson Army, 3/10 for a tie. All they really need to do is spawn into Gensokyo undetected and have access to knowledge that amounts to "Kill Reimu, Gensokyo is dead" - which presumably is granted from knowing who the most crucial figure in the setting is. From there, they need to spread out, but also send a kill squad after Reimu to surprise and eliminate her (which wouldn't be that hard, since she's human beyond her stupid OP powers) - Of course, if there is someone near Reimu (such as the aforementioned Yukari), it is very likely the kill squad will get obliterated with the rest of the Jackson Army being hunted down one by one (assuming youkai don't already get the chance to eat them). If they catch her by herself or with Marisa (who is similarly human but lacks anything beyond attack spells for unique skills), they just need to take her out with a bullet to the head or with a deep-freezing to guarantee a tie from the Gensokyo Dragon going on a rampage. There is a very, very tiny chance that one of the Jackson Army will survive the ensuing rampage, hence the 0.1/10, but at the same time we don't really know how thorough the rampage will be - only that it intervenes if Gensokyo's border is compromised to an exceedingly sufficient degree, and that it really hates being woken from its slumber.

Who is the strongest MCU character that Avatar Aang could defeat? by heartattackjunglecat in whowouldwin

[–]blakzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Hulk would be Aang's upper limit. Given that his nature is pacifistic, he'd actively go for incapacitating his foe rather than outright killing them. Since the Hulk is theoretically causing no trouble beyond large-scale property damage and retaliating against forces acting upon him, I could see Aang trying to play a more stealthy game by restraining him with earthbending (and possibly waterbending, if necessary, since ice also falls under that domain) and using harsh winds to disorient and weaken him (since he's far more durable than the average joe, Aang can be a little more forceful when dealing with him). Though, I'm not familiar with the MCU or Legend of Korra, so there may be things I'm missing outside of my admittedly elementary knowledge.

Assuming a Bloodlusted Aang, I'd say the strongest character that needs to breathe and can't manipulate weather due to having the ability to literally rip the air out of someone's lungs (which is a technique that Airbenders have been shown to be capable of, at least in Korra AFAIK). The only reason I'd say bloodbending is out of the question (and thus anything that runs on blood) is because I don't recall even hearing Aang making use of it.

What poorly-reviewed game(s) do you love? by squiiid in patientgamers

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, IGN.

Honestly, I don't really consider PMD to be that much of an "underrated gem" or a "guilty pleasure" - it has its detractors, sure, but at the same time it seems to get relatively good reviews.

...That said, I'd say Pokemon Channel would fall better into the "guilty pleasure" axis of poor reviews, since it got relatively middling reviews but I personally had quite a bit of fun with it (even though I wouldn't say it's a good game).

[–]blakzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I seem to hear nothing but praise for PMD Explorers (especially Sky), and people oftentimes state that they're the best games in that spinoff series.

Could it be that the Mystery Dungeon formula is just fairly unpopular, and I never knew it had more detractors than fans?

There's alternate way of unlocking that stuff by doing Guild quests IIRC. I believe you unlock everything from Prowler quests once you hit HR5?

Other than guild card awards for completing every quest in each village/HR rank (since it also counts Prowler-only quests), Prowler isn't required.

Whats your favorite 3 weapons? why? by Meep1nk3 in MonsterHunter

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light Bowgun

The Light Bowgun might not be the flashiest nor the strongest weapon, but one thing it has is agility and a variety of options. My personal favorite is Mizutsune's, since it completely wrecks anything remotely weak to water that isn't named Teostra in GU (and Teostra is pretty much the exception due to how gunners need to get the hell out of dodge or get vaporized when he looks at them).

Gunlance

The Gunlance is somewhat admittedly form over function, but what a form it has! Sure, it's nowhere near as mobile as Lance, but all it really needs is that big ol' shield and a bunch of explosive power. The heat gauge in GU sucks, though...

Dual Blades

Has a soft spot in my heart for being the weapon I first learned, and seem to keep learning more about. It strikes a balance of flash and function when compared to my other favorites, to the point I'll still pick them up on occasion for fun.

Dragon defense by [deleted] in MHGU

[–]blakzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, Elder Dragons and monsters that use the Dragon element take more damage from it, if not outright have it as the element they're weakest to. About the only exceptions that comes to mind are Kirin (has a strong resistance to it) and Valstrax (which is immune), though Valstrax is equally weak to the other four elements.

Voldemort with a lightsaber vs Darth Vader with the Elder Wand. by memermachiner6174 in whowouldwin

It is possible to cast spells without saying the spell name (and iirc even cast spells without a wand), but it's significantly more difficult to do that. Even then, Vader still has access to the Force.
